  1. Thanks for the article Cody. I do feel you glossed over Kepler's decline a bit. True Gallo had a great year defensively but Kepler was down defensively and if his 2020 play continues he will have no chance at winning a gold glove. Also, I'm curious to know how the catchers fared defensively. The home town broadcasters constantly fawn over their defensive prowess, but I'd be interested in what the stats say.
  2. This will be an offseason unlike any we have ever see before. Should be VERY interesting!
  3. I totally agree Fire, and disagree somewhat with Cooper's comment that Donaldson "was certainly productive". Yes, he hit 6 home runs, but other than his homer against the White Sox (where he was subsequently ejected from the game - which HURT THE TEAM) I can't think of a single "big hit" or significant defensive play that the Rainmaker provided in 2020. Hopefully 2021 will be a different story.
  4. My 89 year old Aunt dubbed the current version of Miguel "3 swing Sano" - strike 1, strike 2, strike 3. Given that the quality of pitching ramps up the further you go in the playoffs, it is unlikely that Sano will heat up when the Twins need him the most.
  5. That is unfortunate that the Twins will miss Bauer. They are on a roll against Cy Young contenders, beating Bieber, Giolito, Plesac and Darvish in the past few weeks. Those 4 starters have 9 loses total this season, and the Twins are responsible for 5 of them! Makes me wondering if facing Cole in the playoffs will be such a bad thing after all....
  6. I am also glad that this trade happened. Remember when the Red Sox were part of it and tried to muck it up for the Twins? Because of this I'm loving the Bosox struggles this season...
  7. Buxton continues to show flashes of why the Twins drafted him #1 overall. When the Twins drafted Buxton, my immediate comp for him was Andrew McCutchen. While Buck is not at the level of McCutchen yet, he certainly is a difference maker when he is in the line-up.
  8. Add Milwaukee to this as Rogers always seems to struggle against them also...
  9. Twins put Arraez on the I.L. with left knee tendinitis and recalled Smeltzer. https://www.mlb.com/twins/news/luis-arraez-placed-on-injured-list-by-twins It would have been nice to have his bat in the lineup during the critical 7 game stretch. Hopefully this break will give Arraez a chance to heal and be ready for the stretch run.
  10. While I do like the high K/9 stats, relievers are about more than strikeouts. Yes there are times when a big strike-out is needed, but things like save%, hold%, Inherited Runners Scored, walk%, etc. need to be taken into consideration when decisions are being made about who should be in the 'pen. That is why the 2 at the bottom of the K% list should continue get strong consideration as viable options.
  11. Maybe the Twins could resign Nick Punto to fill this role...
  12. This looks like a Spring Training line-up for the Twins - not one in the middle of a pennant race. Hopefully Fulmer's struggles will continue.
  13. The boys stepped up across the board - including the manager who made all the right moves (with maybe the exception of Sano batting leadoff) with the pinch hitters and the pitching moves. Lets hope this is the start of a roll, with our (cough, cough) "ace" helping to build on the win.
  14. I'd like to take this further. The WHOLE ORGANIZATION has been disappointing! Yes - injuries have played a big factor, but the F.O. left the Twins thin in some key areas. The manager has done some questionable things - like WHY do you need to have a bullpen game when your entire team just had 2 full days off? The defense has been below average. The hitting has been atrocious outside of Cruz and Sano recently. Other than Maeda and Dobnak, the SPs have been extremely disappointing. And the bullpen has been really bad over the past 3 weeks. Remember when this team was 10-2? How about 20-10? Yea - me neither.... I'm not going to pretend to know what happens in the club house but someone needs to break some bats and peel some paint - anything to snap the boys out of it - and FAST.
  15. I'd take this, but given the way the season is going I predict he gets knocked out in the 4th...
  16. Certainly irritated by the loss and the fact that Berrios didn't follow-up on his solid prior start. He remains a huge concern. On the other hand, it was GREAT to see Clippard back out there. After he got drilled I was fearing the worst for him.
  17. Sergio Romo @SergioRomo54 If only all the cameras and mics could catch everything going on at all times during the games... then just maybe ppl would understand and know who r the ppl that really bring and start the negativity... #istillknowbetterthantoreactlikethat Sounds like the Cleveland dugout had some issues with Romo's antics on the mound after the 8th inning. The Indians announcers alluded to it during the broadcast.
  18. I couldn't agree more Trov. Trading Brusdar Graterol was a tough move, but I cringe to think of where the rotation would be without Maeda due to the injuries, and the ineffectiveness of Smeltzer, Thorpe and to some extent Berrios.
  19. Totally agree TouchEmAllGuy. Dobnak's outing was greatly needed - especially since our so-called "ace" was not able to pitch well enough to break the losing streak in the game before.
  20. While I am concerned about the injuries/lack of innings out of the SPs AND some of the bats, a 10-2 start far exceeds expectations. FWIW, this 10-2 start equates to roughly a 27-6 start in a full 162 game season. I'll let one of my all-time favorite movies characters tell you what I think of that..."
  21. I was wondering if Wisler's early season success was smoke and mirrors, and the article is evidence that it is not. I sure hope that he can continue his success as the Twins are going to need him - especially with all the injuries lack of innings out of the SPs.
  22. Harper is doing quite well, thank you. He has made 5 appearances with 6Ks in 5.1 innings and a 0.00 ERA for the Nats, and some of those outings have been in "high leverage" situations (not just mop-up time). I'm sure the Nats are glad to have him!
  23. I don't know how Wisler is doing it, but I certainly hope he keeps it up. With the lack of innings out of the SPs, the Twins are going to need more of these bullpen arms to contribute.
