  1. Does the rule that a player needs to stay in the minors for 10 days after being sent down apply for the 26th man for a DH? If so, that is one reason Slegers could not be brought back up. If not, I'm with you Howeda.
  2. That 'Nooga boxscore is U-G-L-Y as far as the hitting was concerned. Two singles over 8 innings off of a pitcher who had a 6.42 ERA coming into the game? YIKES! Maybe they are trying to emulate the hitting of the big league squad...
  3. And now we also hear that Mauer is still suffering from concussion like symptoms. More like severe thunderstorms for the Twins this season...
  4. Excellent info Tom! I love it! Lots of positive things going on in the system so far this season. Now if only the major league squad would do the same...
  5. Maybe the 7th kick in the pants (the Carter signing) is what Vargas needed as the first 6 didn't seems to have much positive long term impact...
  6. Two solid starts by Lynn to close out the month. Maybe he is hearing the footsteps of May and Santana getting closer.... Sano looked horrible in the first two ABs. Then the KC staff screwed up and thru him a strike. I'd love it if he got hot, but I'm not holding my breath. The fact that Buxton tried to bunt was also a pleasant site. The fact that he had the whole right side of the infield open and hit it right at the first basemen was not so pleasant...
  7. Tom: Yes - Paxton is good, but the point is almost EVERY starting pitcher they run into is shutting them down. Leake did it again yesterday. Right now this team would be lucky to score on AAA pitching. With Mauer out and Buxton and Sano appearing lost at the plate, this team is going no where fast.
  8. Great to see Kepler's success continue against lefties. Now if he could only do the same against RHP....
  9. Darn unlucky those Twins hitters - had to face the reincarnation of Cy Young - AGAIN!
  10. Yup - I've been hard on Lance, but will give him credit where credit is due. Cutting down on the walks is HUGE for him. Keep it up Lance!
  11. I know it is a fairly small sample size, but Kepler's splits are the opposite of what they were last season. Left .333 / .396 / .690 / 1.086 Right .218 / .312 / .382 / 0.694 That to me is an incredible flip-flop.
  12. I agree Mike. Great for Jose to go 8 and get the win! Bullpen nice and rested (except for Rodney) for Lynn's likely 3.1 inning outing tonight.
  13. I like seeing starts like Slegers. I know the strikeout happy crowd would disagree, but I'd much rather have a starter go 7 and "only" strikeout 5 than whiff 11 and only go 5.1 innings. Cuts down significantly on the stress on the bullpen.
  14. This whole team is playing / coaching stupid baseball right now. Runners at first and third with one out. Adrianza has a 3-0 count on a rookie pitcher who has been wild AND HE IS SWINGING AWAY!!! Of course he strikes out. Then in the 9th, Buxton on first with no one out. So we pinch hit for Cave who would likely be able to bunt him to second and then let Adrianza hit and of course he strikes out. Stupid baseball....
  15. Solid starts by several in the minors which is great to see. My concern is the lack of innings these starters are going. This is one of the big issues with the Twins this season - the starters are only going 5 to 6 innings (if that) causing a great deal of stress on the bullpen.
  16. May is starting today in Rochester. Hopefully he or Erwin gets back soon so they (or one of the younger arms) can bump BOTH Lynn and Hughes off the rosters. Wishful thinking, I know...
  17. Snydes: I believe you are missing Sano's return in your projections. Assuming Sano comes back before Polanco, Petit will be optioned at that time. Nonetheless you are accurate in your worries that Santana and May's return do not, unfortunately, necessarily equate to the dumping of Hughes - although Romero is making it very tough for the Twins to send him back down.
  18. How unlucky are the Twins hitters that they continually face the reincarnation of Cy Young game after game after game...
  19. As Twins1095 mentions, LOTS of things to be excited about "Down on the Farm". Gordon continues to hit (hopefully he will keep it up in the second half this season) and it appears that he has only made 4 errors (all at short stop) in 34 games (28 at SS and 6 at 2B). Keep it up Nick!
  20. I agree with what most of the posters have stated. Prior to the season I felt that the Angels or Mariners, and the Red Sox/Yankees runner-up were going to get the AL Wild Cards. Cleveland's uneven early season does give the Twins some hope, but the Twins need to continue to play well and hope the Tribe does not figure it out. Thus it is possible that the Twins can win the division, but not probable IMHO. I hope I'm wrong.
  21. Vanimal - My post is "Why the %@%##@ is Phil Hughes still on the Twins roster", but you said it much more "PC" than I did.
  22. Ineffective Twins bullpen + 4 games in the Bronx = Long, painful, likely unsuccessful series against the Yankees.
