    Nice article. I almost felt as if I were there. Someday soon I will plan a trip to Minneapolis in Janu...Opps, I mean June. I came in 1987 and 1988 and the weather was so pleasant. Not at all humid like North Carolina was at that time. One thing I really liked about the Dome was Wally the Beer Man. What great trips.

    I am very optimistic that Noah Miller will become a special player in the major leagues. I hope the Twins hang on to him. He is the real deal in the field at SS and also batting.

    Thanks Nick for a good article. My mama said that the Twins starting pitchers for 2022 are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.

    I am "thankful", for another spring. Thankful for the warmth and the promise of new life and Easter. I am thankful for the renewal of preseason optimism that arrives in bits and pieces during the long time of darkness, called "the offseason". It arrives slowly at first, sometimes with a trade or a free agent signing, but it usually begins on a cold, dreary February day as I read that in Minneapolis, the trucks have started loading equipment for Fort Myers. I'm thankful for the relaxed easing into the season at the back fields of the Hammond Stadium complex. Ah, Spring Training. I'm thankful for green grass, the murmur of a crowd at a ballpark and the shouts of the vendors, selling cold beer and peanuts and nachos and cheese with jalapenos. I'm thankful for new Twins tee shirts with the name "Correa" or "Buxton" on the back. I'm thankful for the constant of Dick Bremer, and being able to enjoy watching games with him and conversing about baseball with him and his fellow announcers and guests. I'm thankful for Tony O. and Kitty being selected. And then there are the games themselves: throw the ball, hit the ball, catch the ball or kiss it good-bye; a quick 6-4-3 double play to end a Yankee threat in the ninth; a low scoring pitchers' duel where every pitch and every grounder matters; a Buxton triple; Kepler hitting an rbi single to left field to beat the shift; second guessing a pitching change; an Arraez single to center; Sano scooping a low throw at first base for an out; a Twins reliever being given the game ball after striking out the last White Sox batter; catchers; dirty uniforms; dozing in my recliner while watching the Twins rout the Red Sox at Fenway; planning a trip to Minneapolis for the playoffs; a 35th anniversary reunion for the 87 World Champion Twins; I am thankful for the civility and knowledge and accessibility of Twins Daily. "Thankful" is my word for Twins baseball this year and every year.

    I would raise the grade to an A- because the Twins unloaded the older, injury-probable Donaldson together with his influence on the younger players and his $50 million salary and were then able to afford to sign Correa, together with his influence on the whole team, which appears to be extremely positive. We are always hearing about younger players learning how to "go about their business" from the older, successful teammates (like Nelson Cruz). With Correa and Buck being the presumed team leaders, the younger Twin players seem to be in very good hands.

    Twins got Jaime Garcia and catcher, Anthony Recker for Ynoa...bad deal I say; Twins got Jake Cave for Luis Gil...not as bad a deal, but I give the edge to the Yankees; Twins got Maeda for Grateral...edge to the Twins, Maeda has a team friendly contract, but his lost season keeps this from being an over the top Twins edge in this trade; Gray for Petty, only time will tell, but I really like having Sonny Gray for the next 2 years, however Petty is a special pitcher. I understand the wisdom of this Petty/Gray trade, but I had just watched Petty pitch in practice at ST and he was very, very impressive, control- wise, extreme pitch velocity and an amazing slider. Se la vie..

    Doc, I'm afraid you may be correct about these transactions. However there is another scenario to be examined: What if Correa leads the Twins to the WS Championship and the Twins become the darlings of the baseball world and the Twins come to realize that they can make more money by winning rather than being mediocre, and the Twins sign Correa to a $300,000,000 - 10 year extension with no player opt outs. I would not be adverse to this risk. I would call this deal a "Juicy Lucy Contract"

    The quote you used about the Twins never paying more than $50 million to a FA was not accurate. Gleeman's quote, which you referenced, was that "Prior to Josh Donaldson" the Twins had never paid more that $50 to a FA. Otherwise your article was outstanding (as most of your articles are) and I really appreciate the research and the optimism. Thank you.

    I was down at ST and I can tell you 3 things I did not see: 1) Twins vs. Yankees, 2) Twins Vs. Phillies, 3) Twins Vs. Red Sox. All cancelled due to the frustrating lockout. Go Twins.

    I was visiting my daughter and son-in -law and 2 year old grandson when I read the news. I let out a whoop and told them the Twins had signed Correa. My daughter said, "Great. Is he good?"

    It wasn't a 5 per cent profit, but rather a 5 per cent increase in value. I don't know what the profit was.
