What’s Left For Emmanuel Rodriguez at Wichita?
tarheeltwinsfan replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It depends on the definition of "dregs" as to whether Margot qualifies. But suffice it to say, Margot's performance has been a disappointment, especially since it cost the Twins the top ranked fielder (a SS no less) among the entirety of the 2023 minor league players, plus $4,000,000.- 49 replies

Margot needs plenty of opportunities to prove himself, so when his average reaches .200 the Twins can try to trade him for anyone they can get.

If Sands situation was evident to us "common fans", why did Rocco put Sands in? The long warm up, then the usage yesterday and now disaster for Sands. Ober had pitched a little over 100 pitches, however he was cruising. I would have let Ober keep pitching until the end of the inning, or someone got another hit off of him or he walked someone. I said so at the time as Sands jogged in from the bullpen.

Margot Misfortune Provides Keirsey Opportunity
tarheeltwinsfan replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Ted, I hope you are right. However, when I saw Miller at Spring Training, I could tell there was something extra special about his fielding at the most important fielding position in baseball. I do respect your wisdom and baseball knowledge, but I must disagree with you about Miller vs. Doncon.- 40 replies

Margot Misfortune Provides Keirsey Opportunity
tarheeltwinsfan replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Trading SS Noah Miller, the minor league platinum glove winner last season for a $4,000,000 Margot, was a big mistake. If I were hell bent on trading Miller, because there was no room on the Twins' roster for the best fielding minor league player (who is a SS to boot), at least I would have gotten some flame throwing pitching prospects with high upsides, similar to Miller's high upside, when he learns to hit.- 40 replies

Zebby Mathews attended Western Carolina University, not Western Kentucky. He lives in Cullowhee, North Carolina, where WCU is located. I hope he will soon join fellow North Carolinians, Ryan Jeffers (Raleigh and UNC-Wilmington grad - majored in physics) and Bailey Ober (grew up in Huntersville NC) and they are soon joined by Southport, North Carolina native, Walker Jenkins.

Goooooooo Zebby. The Twins need another North Carolina native on the major league roster. Zebby lives in Cullowhee, NC located in western N.C. Zebby will soon be in the rotation with Bailey Ober, who grew up in Huntersville, NC, just north of Charlotte in the western Piedmont region of North Carolina. They can both pitch to Ryan Jeffers from Raleigh, NC, located in the center of North Carolina. And the number ONE Twins' prospect, Walker Jenkins, is from Southport, NC, which is on the coast of North Carolina. Since I also live in North Carolina in the hometown of 1987 World Series Championship team member, Mark "Country" Davidson (Statesville, NC) and have been a huge Twins' fan since "the move" in 1961, when I transferred my 8 year boyhood team loyalty from the lowly Washington (my birthplace) Senators to the mighty Minnesota Twins. I will remind you that the Charlotte, NORTH CAROLINA minor league franchise had a long history of being a Senators'/Twins' farm team where Harmon Killebrew once played, after his 2 year sentence of riding the Senators' bench as a signed bonus baby. That rule was a poorly conceived "bonus baby" rule back then. Any bonus baby signed had to be on the major league roster for 2 years immediately after the signing. This discouraged the owners from signing bonus babies, because the bonus babies had to take up a roster spot on the major league team. However the Washington Senators teams of the 1950's were consistently in last place (Washington Senators' motto was - "First in War, First in peace and Last in the American League"), so 18 and 19 year old Killebrew's presence on the Senators' bench for 2 years really didn't hurt the Senators. Long live the North Carolina - Minnesota Twins' pipeline !

I contend Vazquez has surely helped Jeffery become a better catcher. Thank you for writing this wonderful article and pointing out how valuable a good fielding, good framing, smart, experienced, encouraging, hard-working, hustling catcher can be to the pitching staff. I am a huge Vazquez/Jeffers fan. The catching position is critical to helping the pitching staff. Critical ! In fact, just like Falvey and Levine have morphed into "Falvine" , Vazquez and Jeffers have morphed into "Jeffquez".

I had posted that months ago, that Pham would be a good back-up for Buck. The Margot signing was a poor decision, which I also posted when it happened. I wish the FO would contact me before they make these decisions.

If I were Farmer, I would have a voo-doo ceremony and burn all of my bats and batting gloves. At the same I time I'd buy a complete set of new, lighter bats and a complete set of new heavier bats. Then I would try to bunt some. Then I'd grow a mustache and shave my head. I'd immediately see several sports psychologists by zoom on a regular basis. Finally, I'd try a BF Skinner experiment. I'd donate $100 to the campaign of the candidate for President of the United States, whom I want to lose, for each out I made. Without saying who I am voting for, it would be very painful for me to have to donate any money to that fool's campaign. BF Skinner was the father of Operant Conditioning. If something results in pain, one tends to stop doing it.

Hmmm, who made the decisions to obtain Margot ($4,000,000), Sanatana ($5,250,000), pay Farmer $6,250,000 and trade for that 5th starter DeSclafani ($4,000,000), who was already hurt and who went down at spring training? That adds up to $19,500,000, which could have been spent better. However, as they say, an armchair quarterback is always right. :)
