  1. Very interesting article and discussion. Thanks.
  2. Signing Donaldson made it easier for Sano to move to 1B. By that I mean Sano was probably more willing to give up 3B so that Donaldson could play there, than Sano would have been willing to give up 3B for a "fill-in". This way Sano is not moved to first base because he is a poor fielder at 3B , but rather because Donaldson is a better firelder than Sano at 3B. Psychologically the move to 3B was easier for Sano under these circumstances and there should be no hesitation from Sano about making this move.
  3. If Polanco and Arraez are controlable through 2025, where does that leave Lewis?
  4. There will be injuries. Next man up. Charge.
  5. I have confidence that the 2019 and 2020 Twins have something special going on as a team. There are up to date training and data retrieval systems in place. There are encouraging signs that the coaches are able to help players achieve improvement. The veterans are also teachers, as well as innovators themselves. Plus I do not ever recall so many Twins' players being interviewed, saying that the goal is to win the World Series. That generates positive energy, when all individuals are working together for a common team goal. When one player is injured, I fully expect another to step up and take the injured player's place.
  6. Exciting article. This will be fun to watch.
  7. I would take the Twins relief pitchers over the Astros' relievers. I realize this article is about the starters, however the relievers will be pitching 30% to 35% of the innings, even if the starters are going 6 innings. I also think the curse of the trash can will be a factor, even though the Astros will try to use the unending questions and the clever taunts to motivate themselves.
  8. This reminds me of a story in my picture book when I was a little boy. It was about a lady who was afraid to walk down the basement stairs because an axe was hanging beside the stairs on the wall. She was worried "What if the axe falls." Injuries happen. For the most part they are unpredictable. One of the many things I like about this Twins organization is that there are capable replacements at every position.
  9. The Twins are fortunate to have the returning retired players. They all apear to be class acts. I hope someday, Every-Day Eddie will be a returning player who gives instruction at Spring Training like LaTroy, Torii, Justin, Michael, Tony and Rod. (Who did I leave out?)
  10. I also like the fact that Lewis worked out this off season with Torii Hunter and Torii Jr. and Matt Kemp.
  11. Thought provoking article. Thanks.
  12. Nice. I hate I had to cancel my annual trip to Ft. Myers this year. I have 2 tickets to each of the first 4 home games that I will give away to a TD poster who will use them...No charge. Or If some one wants to sell them for me, I'll split what ever he/she gets. Call me at 704-871-9000 or email me at david@statesvillelaw.com. Thanks. David Benbow
  13. I am going to be pulling for any pitcher currently on the mound in a Twins' uniform, young or old, rookie or veteran, minor league contract or 4 year deal, lefty or righty......And Jake Reed.
  14. Hi. My name is David. I am a Twins fan. I was born in Washington, DC before the Twins were a gleam in Calvin Griffith's eye. I moved to North Carolina in 1950. I became a Washington Senators fan in 1953, because my grandfather took me to a Senators/Tigers game at old Griffith Stadium. The Senators lost. Imagine that. . I moved my loyalties to Minnesota when then Senators moved to Minnesota. I lived, and still live, in Statesville, North Carolina, 40 miles north of Charlotte, which was a Senators/Twins' farm team for years. Now Charlotte has gone to the dogs and is a White Sox farm team. I visited lovely Minneapolis in the summers of 1987 and 1988 to visit my Statesville friend, Mark Davidson, a Twins outfielder. The July weather was amazing. The fans were very friendly. I have red hair and was amazed to see so many red-headed people. I had the best steak I have ever eaten at a restaurant downtown. 4 years ago I started going to Ft Myers each spring for spring training. I am sad to say we had to cancel this year because my wife got shingles and the trip would be too difficult for her. We'll be there next year. By the way, does anyone want 2 tickets to the first 4 home spring training games this year.? I have them and they will just go to waste if nobody wants them Contact me at 704-871-9000 or david@statesvillelaw.com You may have them if you will use them. As Don Corleone, the Godfather ,said : "Someday, and that day may never come, I'll call upon you to do a service for me.". Just kidding. No strings attached. I watch the Twins on mlb.com except when we are blacked out when the Twins play Baltimore, the "new" Senators, the Braves and Cincinnati. Twins Daily has been a wonderful way for a North Carolinian to enhance his loyalty to the Twins. I enjoy the articles, the inside information, the comments and posts...but most of all I enjoy the fellowship of some great Twins' fans. Thank you Twins Daily owners, writers, contributors and readers.
  15. Welcome everyone. I'm glad you are a Twins' fan. I was born in Washington, D.C., which is not a state, therefore may I be a member of this group, since I was not born in any of the 50 states in the United States? I think this site is a great idea.
  16. Welcome Kenta I hope your time with the Twins is enjoyable.I hope you know that loyal Twins fans are pulling for you to succeed and to get paid lots of incentives while you are a Minnesota Twin.
  17. Nick, Thanks for a concise summary of the most productive off season I have ever witnessed as a Twins' fan. I read that before one season, Dean Smith put up a picture of the incoming Tar Heel basketball team winning the national championship in the arena in which it was scheduled to be played in March at the end of the season, so the players could visualize that happening. And it did happen. It is my hope that the Twins will, from day one of spring training, visualize winning the World Series in 2020.
