  1. Detroit would never have traded Verlander to the Twins, NO WAY, NO HOW. Maybe if we took on 100% of his remaining salary they might have considered it, but i still doubt it. Even still he's earning 28 million a year for the next three season 2018-2020. Are you really sure you want to take on that kind of salary from a guy that has started to show cracks and is already 34 years old? Just saying.
  2. So the almighty Nick Gordon, shortstop of the future for the Twins has stumbled and fallen flat on his face. Perhaps he isn't the prospect we thought he was once going to be. OMG hold your breath and pray.
  3. Agreed. I would think it would take a lot of convincing to bring him back via arbitration. Look we've all seen this from him before. A couple of good starts followed by a half season of sucking. Something along those lines. I just think the Twins can do better than Santiago and Gibson.
  4. More consistency is the key to his success.
  5. While i like the optimism i would be happy with a good consistent season from him start to finish. No injuries, no major slumps, a higher OBP, higher BA (280's / 290's), a few home runs.
  6. Okay.....Well they lost 3 of 5 to the White Sox, worst team in baseball. And dismantled a very good D-Backs team? You mean the team that lost 93 games last season, 83 in 2015 and 98 in 2014? Hasn't had a winning season since 2011. Yeahhhh.....
  7. Ugly Ugly Ugly! This team is a mirage. This was a good ole ass kicking by the White Sox. My hat off to them. They made this team look like a bunch of schmucks.
  8. Yeah and Gibson's start against the Sox was a mirage. On any other night he would have gotten rocked and had another short outing. He got lucky the other night. I still think he's DFA material.
  9. Good news in that Curtiss is getting a shot. I just wonder why Jake Reed hasn't gotten a call yet either. Guy has been absolutely dominant in Rochester as a RP. Looks like we finally are starting to see some viable options for the major league bullpen. what a breath of fresh air...
  10. Yes and if he makes such a demand when the time comes you trade him and move on. Simple as that.
  11. I don't agree if the contract extension is long term (2+ years). No reason to extend him with Gordon on the way.
  12. I have been a big skeptic of his bat since last season, but post all-star he has me starting to believe. If he can largely eliminate the slumps and get on base more often we might have a dangerous lead-off hitter in the making here.
  13. I've seen enough of Kyle Gibson, Hector Santiago and Phil Hughes. In my opinion if all three of those guys dissapeared this offseason I don't think this team misses a beat. Sometimes addition by subtraction.
  14. Awesome. Walk rate is still high, but it looks like he's moving the right direction and he's still only 21.
  15. Good start for Slegers. At this point in the season I think the Twins should send Gibson down to AAA for the remainder of the season. Kyle CAN'T go deep into games at all. He has been like this all season. I would like to see the Twins keep Slegers up and possibly make room for Gonsalves too. Get these two experience this season and see who sticks down the stretch.
  16. Awesome! Really looking forward to seeing what this kid can do at the major league level. He's been pretty darn good in Rochester this year. Best of luck to Aaron.
  17. I'd like to see Gonsalves AND Aaron Slegers called up. Slegers is having a FANTASTIC season in Rochester. 13-4, 3.18 era, with 97 strikeouts, 6.7k per 9 over 21 starts. Gonsalves had an equally impressive season in Chattanooga. 8-3, 2.68 era, with 96 strikeouts, 9.9k per 9 over 15 starts. I know a lot of people doubt Slegers stuff but i think this kid can pitch.
  18. I'd like to see him get another two starts. A lot of that could have been nerves the other night. After seeing what Berrios has done this season after his disastrous debut year in 2016, I'm willing to take a longer look.
  19. And Littell, the other piece of that trade projects to be better.
  20. They only traded two guys for goodness sake. Garcia and Kintzler both of whom would have been gone at seasons end anyways. I don't get why so many here are flustered by these two moves and making it out to be the end of the world. "the Twins are officially sellers" yadda yadda yadda......This isn't that big of deal and it netted us Enns and Littell (who is the real pickup here). Would i have liked to have gotten Gray or some other Front line starter and a couple of relievers, ABSOLUTELY! But not at the expense of a bunch of prized prospects when it's clear this team has a lot of work left to do.
  21. Your right. And i agree with what you are saying in principal. There is no problem with having a voice at the place of work, but Dozier's comments were inappropriate and out of line IMO.
  22. You THINK Slegers won't be able to get guys out (and you could be right). But I'm willing to give him a shot just the same as Gonsalves.
  23. empowerment is not the same thing as dissension and insubordination.
