  1. yes i agree. I am not a fan of Molitor, but last night he did alright.
  2. I was about to say the same thing. He owns a couple of houses in Minnesota but barely spends anytime there except during the season. Mauer really isn't a Minnesotan anymore he's a Floridian.
  3. I agree, but there are A LOT of people in this country and all over the third world who can't afford to think like that and aren't living the high and mighty lifestyle that some are blessed with.
  4. if I remember correctly the Pohlads said that the team would honor his contract through conclusion but after that it was up to Falvey and Levine.
  5. Not a fan of his management style, still too old school for today's game. Also not a fan AT ALL of his bullpen usage (again the usage not the talent). His lineups often times don't make a whole lot of sense either. On a veteran team with lots of mature talent he'd be okay, but not this young team right now. I agree with some of the other posters here. I think they've won in spite of his managing, not because of it. I've said it before and i'll say it again, Twins misfired badly not hiring Lovullo over Molitor. By all accounts Torey Lovullo has done a fantastic job in Arizona and is well like by his players. Now managing a surging Diamondbacks.
  6. Colon has failed to reach 90 pitches in each of his last 4 starts. He's also lost 4 in a row and his ERA has been 6+ since joining the Twins and he's trending the wrong direction again and badly (was 8.19 era when he joined them). Not sure why this is even a discussion at this point. You have to go with Meija as the 4th starter. If they want to keep him on the roster, fine... back up starter, limited reliever or mop up in a blow out but that is all. Cleveland would destroy Colon.
  7. If by some miracle the Twins survive Yankee Stadium and move onto Cleveland, the Indians would DESTROY Colon. Why forfeit a game when you don't have to. Not opposed to him as bullpen help, but starting? NO WAY!
  8. The guy certainly throws hard enough. I'm really quite surprised he didn't get a call this season.
  9. I'm not surprised. The umps at Yankees stadium always give them the hometown advantage...ALWAYS!
  10. I can't stand watching the horrible free swinging Rosario. He's easily replaceable. TRADE HIM!!!!!! Trade him for pitching already! LOL
  11. Rosario has a much better arm than Jones.
  12. Fine, trade him or throw him away. Apparently he's worthless, reckless and an immature player and human being. If we thought like this about all the current Twins players being brought up through the system this rebuild would be over already and they'd be permanently stuck with AAAA veterans from other teams.
  13. Well.......you start by making good deals to bring in talent. For example Garcia for Enns and Littell (who's 19-1 in A/AA fyi). You continue developing young talent (Slegers, Gonsalves, Romero & Jorge) and also with a bit of luck instead of the injury bug (see Lewis Thorpe) you keep developing that talent and start calling those guys up and go from there. Its not always necessary to trade away all the good players you don't like for pitching.
  14. I look at it in a different way. He's young (25), still learning plate discipline and is jumpy at the plate. I think Molitor said it best. “Rosey is still learning what kind of hitter he is at this level,” Twins manager Paul Molitor said. “He’s got some power. He’s got gap power. He can go the other way. He’s an aggressive guy and he forces it at times. When he gets good pitches to hit, he can do damage." I love having a couple of aggressive hitters (Sano and Rosario) in the lineup. At times he does drive us crazy but you have to have them in my opinion. When he hit three homeruns in Seattle back in June it impressed the hell out of me. In fact his stats across the board impress the hell out of me this season, especially for a 25 year old. If it was up to me i wouldn't trade him, unless I got a good deal in exchange. That's how i feel about it. Too me this is growing pains.
  15. Agreed. Slegers situation though is a bit ridiculous in my opinion. What does this kid have to do in the minors to get an extended look? Gee fringe major league starter at this point.
  16. Until there is a viable alternative to Rosario I wouldn't trade him unless the deal is awesome.
  17. I think Zack Littel earns honorable mention as well next to Thorpe. Guy has been AWESOME this year over three different affiliates at 18-1. All the folks whining about selling Garcia should really take a look at this guys stats and this could end up being a HUGE steal for Falvey and Levine.
  18. The impression i get is that this front office feels they have to try EVERY veteran regardless of how awful they are before using a youngster with upside. And Molitor might have a hand in that decision making too.
  19. Why dont you reread my post instead of making an exaggerated generalized statement. All is said was that he has shown some cracks in his game the last couple of years. I did not say too old.
  20. What do you mean you don't understand that thinking at all? You don't trade your ace starting pitcher to a division rival thereby possibly making them that much stronger. When have we ever seen such a blatant move? First of all a 1st baseman and a starting pitcher are like comparing apples to oranges. Ace starting pitchers are a rare RARE comodity and Mauer sure as hell aint' an ace starting pitcher. Two: Mauer has been in steep decline post concussion from his 2009/2010 peak for a long time now. Verlander in contrast has only shown a few issues the last couple of years but is still pitching more or less like an ace for the Tigers, errr Astros. Not equivalent at all. Other than their outrageous salaries nothing else in common at all. By the way what does Mauer have to do with this? The reason i am against this move is that he's already 34 years old and still has 2, potentially 3 years of 22-28 million a year left on his deal. Too much.
  21. Absolutely true. Houston itself is over 2.3 million people and has more fortune 500 companies than every city except NY City. They are in a honey hole for sure.
  22. But certainly very possible for him.
  23. That is correct. My mistake, hence why i deleted the posted replies.
