  1. While I think I’d be a mistake, I could definitely see us signing Corbin to long term deal, unless he returns to Arizona, which is unlikely, due to their recent drop in the standings and the fact that they’ll probably be more focused on bringing back A.J. Pollock. When it comes to Machado, don’t get your hopes up because he probably doesn’t even see Minnesota an option. Now if the Twins are still interested in a player with Machado-like potential, once after he signs, then I’d recommend they look into acquiring Philadelphia’s former top prospect J.P. Crawford.
  2. Well because Gordon had a down year, it seems like a good portion of people (I’m assuming you too) on this site now view him as a bust and label Polanco as the Twin’s “2nd basemen of the future,” yet simultaneously minimalize a player like Duffy, when in reality Matt Duffy is better than almost our entire lineup, besides Rosario. Meaning, either Duffy is replacement level or our entire lineup is, maybe both? And if that’s the case, then what makes us so disillusioned to the idea that we’re only a couple free agents away from winning the division and going deep in the postseason. This the main reason why I’m for turning the page and commiting to new strategies such as developing players (in this case Gordon) to be defensively versatile.
  3. Fair point, but if Duffy is replacement level, then so is Polanco, in fact Duffy might actually be better. Also, I’m not saying that Gordon and the rest of our players should be striving for slightly above average performance, all I’m saying is that we shouldn’t be afraid of breaking away from baseball’s old school train of thought in more than just a few certain areas, which is why I’m a fan of positional flexibility and the new “opener” strategy.
  4. Maybe, but then how do you explain playing Joe Mauer at 1st and Matt Duffy’s success as a 3rd basemen, despite a lack of power???
  5. Well Rizzo did say they plan on contending next year.... And why play Lewis at 3rd??? That’d just be a waste of his athleticism, I’d rather play Gordon there.
  6. The FO can say they’re committed to Miguel Sano all they want, but they’d be down right foolish to not be on the trade market this offseason looking for possible future replacements in terms of prospects, because I’d rather have a 3rd basemen who’s capable of playing SS (like Bergman), not a 3rd basemen who’s move to 1st/DH is inevitable. One prospect that fits the profile is the National’s switch hitting “five-tool” 3rd/SS Yasel Antuna, who at 18 years old, has already completed a full season at Single A.
  7. How bout Joey Gallo???
  8. Hopefully the FO learns from this year’s unpredictability and truly commits to a full blown youth movement in 2019. I mean we traded Pressly, might as well trade Gibson, Odorizzi, and Castro too.
  9. All these issues and yet some are still clinging onto the idea that we’re a couple FA away from winning the WC game again, oh wait.....
  10. Besides Manny (and maybe Esco), I’d really prefer we stay away from the free agents and try to utilize the trade market more this offseason. For example, the Twins should take advantage of Cave’s “breakout year” and trade him to the payroll shedding Giants for bullpen lefty Tony Watson.
  11. I know Gordon had a down year, and Lewis might not stick at SS, but if things still go according to plan, what’s gonna happen to Polanco???
  12. If it’s not Machado, then I don’t want any of them... And because I really don’t think anyone wants to see Forsythe next year, the FO might be better off having Gordon and Arraez split time at 2nd in 2019.
  13. We’re not set at 3rd, but we’re not exactly in need.... Sooo I say take advantage of all the Angel’s SP injuries, and offer Gibby straight up for Kevin Maitan.
  14. Honestly, the Buxton decision doesn’t bother me too much, but tell me FO, what makes Johnny Field, Tyler Duffey, and Matt Belilse any more deserving of a roster spot than Kennys Vargas, Nick Gordon, Lamonte Wade, Nick Anderson, Lewis Thorpe, and or Jake Reed???
  15. Since he’s here, we might as well pull “a St. Louis” and just anoint Gimenez as player/manager, cause we all know Molitor, let alone Mauer, aren’t capable of leading the Twins.
  16. I’m starting to get the feeling that no free agent we sign this offseason is gonna fix this team. Although firing Molitor would be a step in the right direction.
  17. Uh... what about Vargas, Romero, Gordon, Anderson, Wade, and Reed?
  18. I mean it’s not like he’s jumping from Single A to the majors like Juan Soto.
  19. If the FO is keeping Kirilloff in Fort Myers for the purpose of getting some playoff experience, fine, but if that’s the case then it’s only fair to have AK skip AA, because he’s definitely earned that type of promotion.
  20. Wonder who the PTBNL could be? Assuming we go that route.
  21. Sometimes I think we forget that we’re closing in on the worst decade in Twins history... Obviously this isn’t Falvine’s fault, but it’s their job to turns things around, and if that means going into 2019 as a “rebuilding team,” then so be it. At this point, I don’t care anymore that we made the 2nd WC in 2017, or that we’ve dealt with injuries this year, none of that should excuse years of inconsistent play and “status” (contending/rebuilding), especially when it stems from a lack of commitment to doing a thorough job.
  22. If anything, acquiring Sano might be the most cost effective option for New York, because he’d not only be a significant upgrade (in terms of talent) to Greg Bird at 1st, but his affordability would also allow Cashman the luxury of signing 2 impact starters, like Corbin and Keuchel. All I’m trying to say is that Sano could “possibly” bring back a couple of New York’s top prospects, not their entire farm system, geez.
  23. You’re probably right, but if the Yankees lose the WC game and Machado, I could see them (out desperation) coughing up top prospects for Sano.
  24. You never know, teams really value controllability nowadays. I mean, who’d you rather invest in Donaldson or Sano? From the Twin’s perspective, just giving Sano away for nothing would obviously be a bad idea, but for the right price it’d definitely be something to consider. And yeah, maybe Sano is not dealt, but I guarantee you the FO will be getting calls on Sano.
  25. I doubt we’re the only one’s who see that superstar potential, that’s what teams would be trading for.
