  1. Last night during the Yankees/Redsox game on ESPN, Gibson was mentioned as one of New York’s possible targets. You’d think Justus Sheffield would be worth 1 more year of Gibby, right?
  2. Besides controllability, I don’t see much of a difference between Toronto’s J.A Happ and Gibson. And looking at it from NY’s perspective Gibby does seem more appealing because he won’t cost both Sheffield and Clint Frazier. In terms of the market, the only better option would be to overpay even more for Cole Hamels, who likely won’t have the same impact as Verlander did last year. At least start the conversation with Gibby for Sheffield, and maybe Drury, and see where it goes.
  3. Does anyone think trading Gibby to the Yankees would be worth it if it meant getting back either Brandon Drury, Justus Sheffield, or Dillion Tate?
  4. Obviously not all 3 of them, but maybe Gibby and Reed would be enough to land Jahmai Jones
  5. Depending on whether they think they can catch the Mariners in the WC race, I see the Angels as a good match for the Twins. They don’t really have a 1st baseman in Pujols, Zack Cozart is out for the year, and all their pitchers are getting hurt. We could send any one of Mauer, Dozier, Reed, Pressly, Rodney, Gibson, and Lynn and get a decent return. Names to me that stand out are Kevin Maitan, Jahmai Jones, and Torii Jr.
  6. If we’re not using him then we might as well trade him (opening a spot for Luke Bard) cuz I think other teams view him a little more than just a mop up guy. Might as well trade Zach Duke too so Adalberto Mejia/Gabriel Moya can audition for 2019.
  7. If the Twins pull off the sweep today you’d think the FO would reward the team with a trade, right?
  8. If the National’s Juan Soto can do it why can’t Rooker/Lewis do it, we can always send them back to the minors once Polanco comes back. We did the same thing with Polanco, and it’s not like we’re hitting anyways so I think we can afford to take a chance, especially if they can be the spark plug this team needs.
  9. The Diamondbacks are scuffling and dealing with lots of injuries, but at least they had the sense of urgency to make a trade for Jon Jay. Unlike the Twins. As much as I’d like to complain about Sano and Molitor, I’m much more concerned about the organization’s choice not to win.
  10. If not Realmuto, or Ramos, I don’t think Russel Martin would be all that bad, and he’d be fairly cheap too, in terms of prospect(s).
  11. Why not send Sano to Miami straight up for Realmuto, seems at least possible, especially from the perspective of Miami, who’d like to add someone to build their team around. And I think by adding a consistent contributor behind the dish for the price Sano would only make a more well rounded & dangerous lineup for Twins that’d be taken much more seriously in the eyes of the league.
  12. With Polanco returning soon, Gordon waiting on a call, and Escobar playing as well as he is, maybe the Twins should consider sending Sano and Garver to Miami for Realmuto and Starlin Castro.
  13. With Las Vegas’ recent track record on producing stars players like Kris Bryant and Bryce Harper, I’m suprised C Austin Wells hasn’t been taken yet, especially by the Twins at this point.
  14. There has been talk about picking Osiris Johnson in the Star Tribune, could be a good double play partner for Royce Lewis
  15. I’m hoping the Twins are looking to surround Royce Lewis with more athletes like shortstops Osiris Johnson and Xavier Edwards.
  16. Not gonna lie, but that sounds too good not to happen, and I couldn’t think of a better change of scenery for Sano than a place like Miami. Although I’m afraid the Twins organization is just too committed to Sano, like they are with Mauer and Molitor. And if Miami could throw in Derek Dietrich for 1 or 2 lower level prospects that’d be even better, cuz the dude’s a gamer.
  17. I wouldn’t see it as making a move to make a move, I’d see it as selling high on pure talent that won’t age well and may become a liability sooner than we think. Imagine a scenario where the Rays are willing to send Wilson Ramos and Chris Archer today for Sano, Kirilloff, and Thorpe. Would you pull the trigger?
  18. Without out Sano, Santana, and Polanco for a good portion of the season, I'm starting to have doubts on MN even winning the wildcard (could be wrong tho). Because my confidence in Aybar and or Gordon starting is so low, I believe the Twins should bring back Trevor Plouffe to hold down 3rd, play Escobar at SS, and leave Adrianza as the utility. Other options would be: Jurickson Profar, Taylor Motter, Devin Marrero, Ketel Marte, Adeiny Hechavarria, and Aledmys Diaz
  19. Imo, this what "should" happen. Bullpen: Have Alan Buesnitz and Adalberto Mejia round out the last 2 spots (has experience). AAA depth; Curtiss, Reed, Moya, Kinley (trade Aaron Slegers and Tyler Duffey to Fish) are next in line. Bench: Go with Ehire Adrianza, Robbie Grossman, Eduardo Escobar, Mitch Garver. Next in line should be Zack Granite, Ryan Lamarre, and Erick Aybar. And if Sano gets suspended just reward a reliever to get some looks against MLB batters (likely Fernando Romero). There's no need to call on Erick Aybar when your bench has Adrianza and Escobar, we were fine without Sano at the end of 2017 anyways. Look to trade Phil Huhges, Kennys Vargas, Ehire Adrianza (sell high), Erick Aybar, Tyler Duffey, and Aaron Slegers (nothing to prove in AAA) for a catching prospect, a so-so RH bench bat, or another lefty reliever.
  20. We could trade Vargas to the Mariners, since Ryon Healy is out for 4-6 weeks. Really don't think Seattle wants to run Dan Vogelbach as their starting 1st basemen on opening day, and since all their starting pitchers are injury prone the Twins could also move a healthy Phil Hughes as well. While a B level prospect would be fine, the Twins could try to acquire depth in lefty starter Ariel Miranda, who at 29 was somewhat of a late bloomer in 2017. And because last year he fell victim to a 2nd half slump (very homer prone) and now it seems that Seattle will send him to the bullpen despite their lack of (healthy) starters (they don't trust him) (lets buy low).
  21. Veteran presence like Grossman is important to keep, but I'd be fine if we package Phil Hughes and Kennys Vargas for a C-B level prospect.
  22. Next offseason supposed to be filled with superstars, but if our core can take even the slightest of steps forward compared to 2017 we'd have no need for Harper, Machado, Madbum, etc. Instead, I think the Falvine should bring Dozier back on a long term deal (5 years), work out a discount for Mauer, all while still having room to sign high quality players such as Drew Pomeranz and Nelson Cruz. Imagine Dozier, LoMo, Sano (still holding out hope for Archer), and Nelson Cruz in the heart of our lineup and... having Pomeranz, a 30 year old to be with ace-like stuff who'll also be entering his prime years in 2019
  23. Despite all the worry over the rotation, I'd still be skeptical of our bullpen. Addison Reed was the only signing I liked, and besides him I've been pretty disappointed with the signings of Duke and Rodney. I'm worried Duke will be just as effective or worse of a lefty than Buddy Boshers was, in that case why not sing young lefties (with upside) Robbie Ross and Kevin Seigrist to minor league deals (unlike Sanchez and Duke). And for more assurance it wouldn't hurt to sign Sueng-Hwang Oh to a 1 year deal, in case Rodney disappoints.
