  1. What a bunch of crap for the Twins to pull. I know you would upset your season ticket holders if they were discounted at the rate they should be. But to know that they can jack the prices through the rough is flat out insane!!! Nothing more than a money grab by the poor Twins. I can't wait when hopefully the Pohlad boys sell the team to someone who actually cares about baseball...
  2. Does this mean ticket in August and September could be only a couple of dollars for some great seats if the Twins repeat their last 2 years performance? Or will it be a $35 ticket will be only discounted $5 when the Twins might be 20 games out of first place in August?
  3. I know this has been reported about an hour ago, but I wanted to say I was floored when I heard Cleveland made the move. They might as well surrender their 3rd round pick for Lohse and make Boras happy. Did anyone see this happening? I really don't think the move does much for Cleveland to get them past Detroit in the Central. Maybe they will keep him and deal him (to the Mets) in July.
  4. I thought people were not to make comments like that without having them removed? I may be wrong but nobody forces anyone to read or comment on any threads.
  5. The Twins don't want to have to remove any "stars/prospects" from the 40 man roster so they could make a move like the one you mentioned.
  6. There was no thread started when I began my thread. Otherwise I would have never started one. I wanted to check out his minor league numbers before I posted my thread. So sue me twinsnorth49 for making a thread.
  7. I just read that the Chicago Cubs designated outfielder Tony Campana for assignment. I would rather see the Twins sign him than Scott Podsednik. He could split time in CF with Darin Mastroianni until Aaron Hicks can prove he deserves a call up. Campana's main asset is his speed as he led the Cubs last year 30 stolen bases, the ninth best total in the National League. The 26-year-old finished 2012 with a slash line of .264/.308/.299 in 192 plate appearances.
  8. My thought also on the subject. Is there going to be a thread started next about Mauer's ability to throw out base runners soon? Not sure if anyone can defend the fact that he is below average. But, all people would have to do is use the line "that the pitchers are not keeping the runners in check. Come on people what should we expect for $23M?
  9. Also, any 1YR contract he would sign would have language included that would prevent the team from making a qualifying offer so he would not be stuck in limbo next off season like this winter.
  10. To be honest, what makes Bourn worth anything over $10M a season? He is just another CF who can hit lead off and can steal bases. Below average BA, not much power at all,and highest OBP 2011 .363 What separates him from Coco Crisp and Rajai Davis type players?
  11. I posted this topic quite a while ago and didn't get the impression that people would like this move. I would never go $20M maybe $12-15M and then flip him in June when you can trade FA's that you signed in the off season. But to pay around $5M to technically "rent" Bourne to flip for a prospect and also lose the #42 pick in the draft might be too steep of price to pay for a gamble.
  12. So when would Appel be declared a FA when Boras pulls the same old crap and believes that he is worth $7M? What is the signing deadline for drafted players to sign? Come on Jeremy, this is an easy question for you.
  13. If Doogie tweeted it you gotta believe it to be true. But, If I could only recall who make a bold statement that Scott Baker was going to be resigned by the Twins. I wish I could remember who said that. [h=1][/h]
  14. why wouldn't TR pull the trigger on this virtually zero cost option in the Twins favorable waiver postion? Players like Todd Richmond go through waivers in their league first, so the Twins would be second in line if he gets past all teams in the NL. So 15 teams would have to pass on him.
  15. The real question is can he pitch to contact... He would be a great addition to the organization. That being said the Twins (Terry Ryan) would probably have no interest in signing him.
  16. Now if we could only hire someone to manage this talent. Also, it would be nice if we could have 1 prospect come up at least 3 years after being drafted. So much for a fast track here to get talent to the bigs to help out.
  17. Hopefully this is true. Nothing like killing 2 birds with 1 stone. We need new blood in this organization. The old Twins way needs to be put out of it's misery. Every team needs to just have a clean break and start over. 2015 with the right direction could be the time for the Twins to take back the AL Central for many years to come.
  18. He will get his shot when he is past the date to become a Super 2. The Twins should not let him become a FA any sooner than they can.
  19. Could the Twins just sign him now for let's just say $3M and when it comes out he lied about his age they maybe just suspend him for a season but the Twins get to keep him. I know that would be too good to be true if they could pull it off.
  20. You gotta love the Slowey Verlander comparison. I guess Slowey just needed a better pitching coach at the major league level to continue his success.
  21. In this organization if he continued to dominate he should reach AAA Rochester by 2016 or so.
  22. Hicks should start the season in Rochester to prove that he is ready for the next step. Hicks had a good year in 2012 but would benefit by not be rushed. Also, you need to prevent Super 2 status when you won't add any FA's to your team. Joe Benson and Darin Mastroianni will share CF until Hicks can prove he deserves the promotion.
  23. I have a very interesting idea that might be acceptable for everyone. 1. Tampa moves to Minnesota. 2. Minnesota moves to Montreal. The Pohlad sons also leave and a new owner takes over in MN, the team name Twins would stay here and the Expos are reborn. 3. Miami gets one last chance to keep baseball in Florida with new ownership.
  24. You cannot have 2 DH's in your OF and hope not to get destroyed.
  25. What proposed trades are you talking about? Morneau and Willingham for what?
