  1. Lifetime Achievement Award? That sounds about right, the lifetime part that is. What have you done for Twins fans lately? Just look at all those solid IF & SP prospects that are coming up through the minor league system. My fault, we are supposed to blame all things on Bill Smith no matter what the situation is.
  2. I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you. How could you go wrong with 2 Aces laying it all on the line for 9 shutout innings. Oh, I forgot Mr. Morris who pretty much refused to give the ball to TK went all 10 in one of the greatest World Series games ever. I guess we find out next week if Jack Morris gets the call and finally becomes a HOF.
  3. Really Seth? I expected more out of you than that. So the guy made a terrible mistake in 2006. Does that mean he goes out every night and assaults women? So much for giving anyone a second chance ever?
  4. I can't wait to see how bad the Twins screwed up signing Kevin Correia for $10M for 2YR when the numbers come out for Brett Myers. I also read somewhere the Indians might be in talks with Arizona for Kubel.
  5. I hate to say the Twins are never gonna have to worry about draft pick compensation when it comes to signing a FA. Too cheap and too smart to sign an ace to a 6YR deal.
  6. So that mean the Dodgers are the front runners to sign them both.
  7. Does anyone know how much the Twins have left to sign any international players? That should be the first thing johnnydakota found out before he made this thread. I'm not sure how much they do have but I am sure somebody like Seth would be able to answer this without much effort.
  8. Didn't someone make a comment about him playing some 3B? Now that could make him worth making the roster.
  9. Because teams that don't have their 1st round pick protected don't want to lose it. The Twins would only lose their 2nd round pick if they signed Bourn. The Twins could also sign Lohse and only lose a 3rd round pick. The Twins could also sign a another Boras client Rafael Soriano and do the same thing. It would be just like what the Marlins do all the time with fire sales.
  10. A player can be traded any time after June 15th. Sign Bourn, trade Bourn and then call up Hicks.
  11. I was listening to Jim Bowden on SiriusXM's "Inside Pitch" and he had some interesting things to say about signing Michael Bourn & Kyle Lohse. Ok both are Scott Boras clients that can't find a job because of Boras (which is my guess). If the Twins signed either player they would give up their #2 round pick or you if signed both #2 & #3 round pick. His idea would be to sign them and basically deal them either at the trade deadline or June 15th. June 15th would be the earliest day you could trade a free agent you just signed. So why not offer 3YR $45M for a rental for a few months and then trade for prospects. You would get a great return from a contending team needing that extra player to put them over the top. Also, the Twins could sign either player to keep the ARB clock from starting on Aaron Hicks and Kyle Gibson.
  12. Mauer is no lock at all to be a HOF. You want to factor in that he is putting up HOF numbers for a catcher, but he is no longer a full time catcher. So all stats he compiles me nothing if he keeps playing 1B. By the way, I fully expect him to one day be a HOF. That would be the Twins Hall of Fame. Tony Oliva deserves to be in Cooperstown more than the Golden Boy Joe Mauer.
  13. I see a few decent RP's still out there, any chance on the Twins showing any interest in the following RP. Before I throw names out I would like to see them signed possibly to minor league deals. Kyle Farnsworth Jason Frasor Matt Lindstrom Brandon Lyon Mike Gonzalez J.P. Howell In other words, a bunch of former closers as insurance if Perkins falters as closer.
  14. "He made two good trades bringing in power arms Alex Meyer and Trevor May to a depleted farm system." The real question is how the minor league system became so depleted with pitching prospects? The Twins should be trying to steal away some scouts who actually know what they are doing. That is where the Twins need to pump some of their money they refuse to use on a fielding an actual competitive team.
  15. The thing that should bug you about the Marlins trading all those players is really simple, they never intended to keep any of them long term. All contracts were back loaded so Miami didn't have to pay much of their salaries and dumped them on to whoever would take them on for prospects.
  16. Here is a really good question that cannot be answered. How can MLB teams call themselves a private company when a high percentage have their stadiums paid for with public funds(taxpayers). They should make all teams that have received public money for stadiums to open up their books and make them public to show how bad they really needed help to pay for their stadiums. Like that would ever happen! Could you imagine how terrified owners would be if they had to show the books about how much money they really make.
  17. He was just doing a favor to his agent to make the signing look better. I also heard the same thing out in LA about Zack Greinke also leaving money on the table. and how does the old saying " [h=1]If You Believe This, I've Got Some Swamp Land in Florida to Sell You."[/h]
  18. I would like to know the value of the contract if he makes the at some point. I would have to think the contract has an out May 1st if not called up and possibly $1-2M for MLB contract.
  19. Technically Byron Buxton will play in Target Field before Miguel Sano. That would through the MLB Futures game. Sano should be in the 2013 game and Buxton in the 2014 game at Target Field.
  20. Is this how the Twins try to help Trevor Ploufee regain his confidence? I would be more worried about 2B, SS, CF, #1 & #2 SP and than 3B.
  21. What I know of him so far is he was first DFA by Houston, claimed by the Yankees and then DFA by the Yankees to be reclaimed by Houston who had to DFA Storey to clear a spot for Carlos Pena on their 40 man roster.
  22. Storey had success at the major league level. Why not take a chance and claim him.
  23. Mickey Storey is the type of pitcher that Terry Ryan should be adding for depth. He was just DFA by the Astros today. Storey made 26 relief appearances for the Astros this past season. The 26-year-old posted a 3.86 ERA with 10.1 K/9 and 3.0 BB/9 in 30 1/3 innings at the MLB level. He also spent considerable time at Triple-A in 2012, posting a 3.05 ERA with 10.0 K/9 and 1.9 BB/9 in 65 innings.
  24. I guess I can make a play off your title. Of course the future is bright because the present is so dim with the hope that the Twins don't lose 100 games in 2013.
  25. And Brett Myers.
