  1. Mike Moustakas would be the primary target if the Twins wanted to sign a 3rd basemen to a massive deal.
  2. We can only hope this means the end of Grossman.
  3. I just feel they need more lefty bats besides Kepler, Cave, & Rosario.
  4. Just looked at the depth chart on twinsbaseball.com and noticed they list Sano as #1 at 1st base. Sano is not even listed in the depth chart at 3rd base any more. They now have Willians Astudillo as #1 at 3rd base. Will be interesting how the C.J. Cron waiver claim will shake things out now. Worst part is that all 3 DH/1st basemen are all right handed bats. Not sure how much faith I put into this depth chart they put out on their own site. They don't even have Bryon Buxton listed at all.
  5. SO what does this mean for Tyler Austin? Both being righthanded so there is no platoon to be had there. Granted you can use one as DH and other at 1st of course. I would have preferred maybe signing Matt Adams so you could have a lefty option to split time with Austin.
  6. The Twins are still pretending they are a small market team. Sure they don't have a massive TV deal like some but they have plenty of money to spend.
  7. Our "Gordon" still has to manage to earn a promotion to the big leagues before we would have to even think about it. I also would hate a guy for calling out a lazy player.
  8. Any reason for the Twins not to get involved in trade talks with Seattle for Jean Segura? Would be a great addition to the team and could slide Polanco over to 2nd base to fill that hole.
  9. Don't forget the fact they inherited the team from their father. So they never put up anything to buy and and the little thing about a public funded stadium as well. So we could have a way bigger payroll with ease.
  10. They also have plenty of AAAA pitchers on the 40 man that could sent through waivers down the road.
  11. Our FO didn't draft him. It's simple for them to pass on most of these guys because of this. It will be interesting to see what happens when the players they drafted are needed to be protected.
  12. Why has Robbie Grossman not been dropped yet? He's nothing special and outfielders are a dime a dozen. Also, not sure if I can ever recall seeing so many outfielders on the Twins 40 man. 7 seems a touch high for sure.
  13. Reed would have been fine if he was not over used so much early in the season.
  14. Yup, besides the fact of he struck out twice as often as he got a hit. .206 BA no thanks.
  15. This move should have happened at the beginning of last season. Maybe he can make a return like what has happened with others who went overseas to figure things out and get the playing time they need to shine.
  16. This list is trash. I'm waiting for the list with the money and the teams who are going to sign the player. This list is a waste of time.
  17. I hate to say it, the story seems to have changed from what was earlier reported. Funny how things work out.
  18. This may come back and hurt the Twins BIG TIME if Buxton can find his stroke & stay healthy going forward. Those are 2 big things to ask for sure. Is it worth it to gain another year of service time? My answer would be no. Gaining 1 extra year of service time gains you absolutely nothing in the long run. Back to my earlier points that if he rebounds and stays healthy his agent may not entertain the thought of a long term deal. Then it's just a waiting game for him to become a free agent and leave. On paper this seems like a smart move. Sadly, everyone comes out of this a loser.
  19. They should be giving out minimum of 10 games for a starter's suspension. Depending on the situation like this it should be bumped up to 50 at maximum. That is on the low end for both numbers. A pitcher could possibly end a hitter career or in the worst case scenario could end up killing a hitter. These things don't belong in the game. This may have not been an issue "back in the day" but times have changed.
  20. This seems to be one of those cases where he will be given a couple of starts and if he fails big time DFA. At least they are giving him a shot. It's up to him now.
  21. A manager. I prefer to think outside the box.
  22. LA can't take on salary without moving another. Luxury tax issues.
  23. When the Twins signed Anibal Sanchez this winter everyone thought it was a complete waste of money and time for a washed up pitcher. Maybe Atlanta found something and corrected him. You also can't complain about the numbers he has put up this season. 4-2 with a 2.60 ERA, 62 K's in 65 2/3 innings would have looked nice in the rotation this year.
  24. No way do either deserve a QO. If hey did they would have to accept it because teams have been so tight on giving up draft compensation for FA's. Unless Dozier has a great 2nd half he will not be getting over QO in any long term deal.
  25. Holding on to Dozier & Escobar is the wrong move if they get a good deal. Zero reason to hold on to a player that can become a FA after the season. If Dozier wants to come back he can. I would not want him back with the price tag that would be attached to him as well as Gordon needs a spot in 2019.
