  1. This "could" be a great signing if the 1st thing Nelson Cruz does is have a very long sit down with Sano and gets him right. Maybe this could be the last chance to save Sano from himself.
  2. Not sure if know this or not Twins pitchers can no longer pitch to him. So we shall see if he can actually still "crush the ball at TF
  3. Attendance has dropped so much every year. A straight out tanking season will be very hard to get people to come back until like mid May if not June in 2020 or 2021 when they actually start winning again. You can have the high draft picks but you still need to get lucky 9 times out of 10 to get a star. As well as the fact that tanking is the new "in thing" in MLB so it would be a race to the bottom. Not worth it.
  4. Standing Pat equals tanking.
  5. Are the Twins setting up to tank for the next couple of years or what? I don't want them to make dumb signings just to spend money though. My opinion their 2 newest players CJ Cron & Jonathan Schoop seem wrong to me. Cron played in AL East with all those hitters parks to pad his stats. Tyler Austin may have got better stats with a full year of AB's. Schoop could be a nice bounce back player this year but they could have fixed 2 holes if they would have signed a good shortstop and move Polanco to 2B. We may have more potential power but the defense will suffer because of it.
  6. I would say Harold Baines even though he was never a Twin. If he is worthy of being in the Hall of Fame we may as well make him a member of ours as well. Sad part he probably will never had his number retired by any team. So why not be "Minnesota nice" and bring him in.
  7. Just like Allen there are a ton of innings on all those pitchers arms. I would not be mad if they brought in all of them but as long as they don't over use them like they did last year with Reed.
  8. A few bad appearances and a poor defense can kill a relief pitcher's ERA for quite a while.
  9. Are you really expecting Nick Gordon to pan out? Polanco or Iglesias could take over 2b IF Royce Lewis is ready in 2020. Not to jinx him but what happened with our last "can't miss prospect" who was #1 prospect in all of baseball for 2 years?
  10. You are banking on a high return from a trade? Gonna need to find a desperate team looking for help at 2B at the trade deadline. They should have signed to shortstop.
  11. To be honest the best option would have been to sign a shortstop and slide Polanco over to 2b.
  12. Did the Twins make a mistake jumping the gun on the Schoop signing? Ian Kinsler just signed with San Diego for 2 years $8M total. I don't expect either guy to get close to match their career best seasons in 2019. Sure hope the Twins know what they are doing going forward. What really scares me is that we will not be able to lure any good FA here. As well as the fact the Twins have zero financial commitments past next season. How do you talk a player into joining your team when you have nobody under contract in 2020?
  13. I really wished the Twins would have not jumped right away and signed Cron. They would have been better served signing either Justin Bour or Matt Adams instead of Cron. At least that way they could have had a lefty/righty combo with Tyler Austin. Now we are stuck with 2 righthanded 1st basemen/DH and they still seem linked to Nelson Cruz. By the way, Bour signed for almost half the money they paid for Cron.
  14. The smart play now is not really a popular play for the Twins. That would to basically do nothing right now and wait for the big FA's to sign and then take a couple of chances on guys desperate to land a contract and flip them at the trade deadline or earlier. But, please don't sign any guys after Spring Training starts.
  15. Jed Lowrie or Daniel Murphy would have been the player I would have rather seen them sign. I can also say I would have rather waited for another team to pick up a 2b first. Hate to think it's another classic Twins overpay. Just because he was projected to make $10M doesn't mean you need to pay him close to that. My guess is that Dozier will sign for $4M.
  16. Quick question, I see Santana is a switch hitter but what side is his dominate side? If he's another guy whose better side is batting right we got that covered. It would be nice if he brought a veteran presence to this team.
  17. Why do you think SF is looking to deal Mad Bum? Last year of very team friendly deal and by the way he has a TON of innings on that arm. It seems like SF knows it's now or never to try to cash him in before he gets hurt.
  18. So you want to sign Machado? Ready for that 10 year commitment to a guy who doesn't hustle or seem to care? Not a smart signing with all his baggage and no veteran presence on the roster to keep him in check. Also, you want your young upcoming talent to look up and see Machado not caring or putting 100% into his game. NO.
  19. I was just going to say this. Launch angle and all these new metrics are garbage. They may be fine for power hitters but not for everyone. A little more patience at the plate and hitting the ball where it's pitched to would help. The biggest thing that has killed me lately that the "professional hitters" can't beat a shift. A half swing for a lefty where the 3rd basemen is supposed to play is an easy double.
  20. Just think of the deals the Twins could have done if they traded Buxton when he was #1 prospect in the game. Now look what we have, an injury prone outfielder that spends more time on DL than playing. Same could be said about Gordon. One of the Twins top prospects and top 25-40 in the game and now where would you place him? Prospects should be used to acquire proven talent if you are a contending team. A prospect has maybe a 10-15% chance to succeed.
  21. IDK, besides the fact the Twins can't even put a depth chart together properly but we are supposed to have faith that they can make the right moves to get the Twins back into contention.
  22. Kind of surprised I can't even get a single comment on this.
  23. Why would you want to be on the hook for $12M for the next 5 years for him? Those last 2-3 years will not be at 2nd and the stats will drop like crazy as well. Besides the fact he would not waive his no trade clause to come here. He will be back with NYY
  24. Why would we compare the 2 of them? Just because they both played last in Tampa? Morrison basically had no Spring Training and may have been hiding an injury all season until they shut him down.
