  1. It wasn't the talking him up, it was the really braggy way people were SO SURE he was better than Correia and the Astros were IDIOTS for passing on Buxton. That attitude was (is?) all over this site the last year. this wasn't about "control" or "cost"....it was about how good a player he is compared to others. I didn't even look at guys drafted in the last 2 years, so there may be more.
  2. Carlos Corriea for one. All that bragging on this site about Buxton over him looks silly so far, just as it looked silly last year, and earlier this year. Possibles: Lindor Seager Gallo Giolito guys I thought were 21, but are now 22: Harper Machado Betts Look, Buxton is one of the best players under 22 out there......but it's not hard to find names that are close to him in potential.
  3. Not to get off topic, but yes, I can name several 21 year olds with bigger upside.....
  4. I'm no sure fire believer.....but when an OF gets hurt in AAA, shouldn't ABW move up?
  5. Patience? He is out of options after this year. .....I believe. You can't wait until he is 25.....he is either here, or gone next year.
  6. No way it happens statement: I'd rather have Plouffe at 3B and Sano at 1B, and Mauer DFA, than Plouffe traded for a prospect that might not ever work out.......* *I'm not sure I believe that, but I am seriously considering it as a real opinion....
  7. then why do they care if they keep him, if he's not good?
  8. Really? I think if they just used Graham it would be fine, but they refuse to use him for some reason. Then next year, they'll put him on an innings' limit, since he didn't pitch much this year. Then, in 2 years, they'll be turning him into a RP, since the SP will be full.......that's my prediction anyway.
  9. Fair, but I don't believe in Santana or Polanco at SS.....and Gordon is 2-3 years away, so I'd consider it for the correct SS (no idea who that would be). but, if you could get a legit catcher, I'd prefer that, agreed.
  10. My bad, those RP trades are on other threads.....
  11. I get what Sano could be....but he could also be your RF or 1B or DH, so, that's why I said you'd have to get a C or SS.....
  12. I did say it would have to be a good, young, catcher or SS.....but some of the trades here have him going for a dang RP.....I really think it is a huge risk to trade Plouffe....
  13. I don't agree with trading a top 10 3B in Plouffe.....I just don't get it. Not unless you get a MLB player, SS or C, that is signed for 2+ years. And, he'd have to be top 10 at his position......
  14. What if you took half the salary of one of those over paid corner guys? How many millions (in effect) would you pay for Norris, and give up a decent prospect?
  15. That seems a bit light for the A's. I'd guess Zobrist alone gets one prospect better than any of those three.
  16. I don't anticipate any of those three being a MN Twin this season, alas. I don't understand why SD would trade their best/2nd best position player, who is 26......I don't think they will pay the price for Lucroy.....Susac is pretty much a lock to be the starter there, with Posey getting more 1B time.... I just don't see it.
  17. Thanks to Lewis for doing this, and for Seth doing the work. Good read. Good luck to him.
  18. Good to have games again. Go Twins.
  19. Short memories on Vargas? He wasn't much of a prospect. He was called up last year in an emergency. I think the short memory is of his success last year being a bit of a fluke, personally.
  20. To what end? There are 8 pitchers ahead of him in the pecking order right now. He could be HERE, right now, helping. If he has to start more than 5 games the next 18 months, something else went really, really wrong.
  21. I am a big fan of Gibson...... the boyer one is, wait for it, mind boggling......he's not that good! I'll bet the under on Hunter's HR pace, check his July numbers..... As for bsr, Fangraphs has them below replacement for base running this year overall.
  22. yes, the SB are looking nice, and yes, he seems to have adjusted well. It sure would be nice to have Trea Turner now, and the next 2 years, but I still think Gordon can be better than him.....
  23. I think, like most teams, they are in a holding pattern right now........ I'd not deal any of: Buxton Sano Berrios Plouffe* Dozier Gibson Everyone else, for the right price, I'd consider. *would require a huge overpay by the other side
  24. 6 errors! Wowzer. No way he can be called up, what do you tell the pitchers if you do that?
