  1. He did deal for Shannon Stewart, didn't he? You'd think that when it works, you'd maybe try it again....
  2. We'll just disagree. And I'm ok with that. And no, your last paragraph does not logically follow from the theory.
  3. Agree with every word in this post. Other than the Meyer thing, which ain't happening (and I know you said if).
  4. they placed a very bad bet, given what we know about tall pitchers, imo. As I said at the time, the idea is good, but needs to be judged on how good Meyer turns out. Had I known the history of tall pitchers, I would have ripped it mercilessly at the time.
  5. Uh, that Astros trade was great for the Astros. They have no CF, and their OF defense is suspect. They are loaded with young talent already. He's controlled past this year. They also got a controlled pitcher, who will pitch out of the bullpen this year, with spot starts. He can step into the rotation next year if they don't sign another guy.
  6. Why the bleep would you deal those guys for Upton? Mind. Boggling.
  7. Meyers is 6 foot 9. List the players not named Randy Johnson that have been good pitchers at that height........I'll wait.
  8. Two real trades in that whole list. I'm not holding my breath here. I do agree with Ryan on one thing, trading a legit prospect for a rental this year is now a bad idea. Everyone else around them is trying hard to get elite players, and has amassed real talent. I don't think their quickly evaporating games in hand are enough to hold them all off. Of course, this is a self-fulfilling prophecy, sitting around and losing ballgames while the bullpen implodes, then saying they weren't good enough to add players that matter.....
  9. What does Graham do now that May has his job of not mattering?
  10. Sorry, that was my prediction for a Ryan quote........
  11. I may need to rethink my appreciation of Hughes as a lock for good part of the future.......
  12. Twins up. By four.......still too close for May to come in?
  13. Getting Buxton back is better than any trade I could have made.......
  14. He has a plan, it just want working. Zunino was supposed to be good. Two top pitchers got hurt. Every FA he acquired is a been blech. Ya, he is bad......
  15. Seattle is bad.......and will not blow it up. Nice win tonight. I like wins.
  16. Polanco at SS.....yes. Escobar as DH? Is this a different Escobar?
  17. Pelfrey has not been good for 5 years. May might be good.......
  18. They really don't seem to like Arcia, though. And, he's out of options after this year. He's either here full time next year, or on another roster (or hurt, I guess).
  19. I agree, they look like sellers now, don't they. I only deal Plouffe for a SS or C of the present/future. The others, whatever is of real value.
  20. I am a huge Kepler guy. I agree with Brock, he's still trending up, and I'd rather they keep him, or deal him in the off season. And, no way I'd trade a legit 22 year old prospect for a RP. No way.* *unless it was one of the few elite ones, with multiple years of control left.
  21. I think this is a totally reasonable stance. the trades I favor(ed) are/were for guys with 2+ years of control left, not rentals.
  22. Plus, if they did take on Shields and didn't flip him, it would almost guarantee we don't see May or Berrios in the rotation soon at all.....
