  1. I think Rosario can be a legit MLB OF. As for sophomore slumps, that is a stupid article (and it admits so), since it looks at rookies of the year. Those performances are, as the article states, already outliers. What I'd like is an actual study that looks at every rookie, and see how they do the 2nd year. That would be a meaningful study.
  2. I think everyone is taking this too seriously.....
  3. Plus what else? Because that's not enough.
  4. Wow, I just clicked on run differential for last year. wow, the Tigers were bad. Wow.
  5. What will the Twins' record be if not everything goes right? Like, Sano has a slump, and is terrible in the OF, Park can't hit MLB pitching, and Santana is terrible in CF and Buxton doesn't hit in AAA? All of the analysis here is "everything will go wrong for this club, so they'll suck". That's true of every team. As for what they should have done this offseason......why not try to win one more year? Those contracts are not super tradeable, so they have those guys. should they have just sat there, and done nothing?
  6. I predict Wade is in A+ by June/July. He can get on base and hit and field.
  7. Great read. Not in love with giving up Gonsalves, but that is probably a fair trade. Now we need to work with Goin and Molitor to figure out how to best use the SP / RP group. As the one formerly known as Mike Wants Wins, I'm not sure what I could do after that! There isn't much out there to go get. The bullpen is now set, this year and probably in the future. The OF is pretty much set at this point, this year and in the future (thank goodness we still have Kepler). 3B is set for the future. That really means that SS, 2B, C, SP are the areas to think about for the future. Right now, I would not make any realistic changes.....so you'll have to wait until next offseason or the ASB for me to make any more moves.
  8. Great interview! thanks to both of you for doing it.
  9. Haven't they been quoted as saying he was brought up before he was ready? I think they traded Hicks because they had NO CATCHERS other than Suzuki, and wanted a catcher. I think it has nothing to do with April, May, or June CF next year.
  10. I do agree with this, but I'd guess if Buxton is in AAA, one of those guys is in the majors. That means one has to be cut, or sent to AA. It would be VERY frustrating for the AAA OF not to be that alignment, if Buxton is there. Imagine the outrage if/when Kepler or Walker is in AA to star the year, so they can protect three AAAA players.......
  11. Ya, re-reading it is fascinating in some ways. And yes, it could create a chain of threads. And yes, Jack was nice enough to respond. I imagine he's a pretty nice guy.
  12. He sounds like a nice guy, but entertainment is very subjective, right? He's just not my style. That morning show is not my style at all. I would imagine that others like it a lot, since it is highly rated. I'm glad TD got a guy like him to emcee, really, I meant it when I said "have fun everyone".
  13. What I read on line: Ya, they've lost a lot of recruits, but it is still their best class in years. Now, is that good, or a total slam on their awful recruiting the last few years? I don't know....
  14. That AA roster looks suspect........ I think Buxton is in AAA to start, with Santana in CF to start. Molitor really seems to love him. By the middle of the year, Sano will be at 3B, Buxton in CF, and Kepler in RF. And the Twins will be 5 games under, and finish 2 games over .500.
  15. Not a fan of the 529.......it isn't very liquid. That said, it isn't an awful idea. If I was young again, and had young kids, I'd be buying rental properties, and gifting them 10K a year of the value. Then, when they need the money, they can either use the rent, or sell the places. But, that ship has largely sailed for me.....though maybe not..... *not advice, just what I'd do.....
  16. An all time classic book. Truly.
  17. I have it both in my self directed 401K and personal account....if that means anything to anyone.....not advice, btw.
  18. not advice: Activision Disney Netflix Amazon I am in on all of those.....
  19. Ouch. I imagine my mom, who relies on a small portfolio, is a bit down this week.......I should call her. And, that scenario sucks. And, thanks for being in the non-profit world, we need more help out there.
  20. Hell, I'm 51 and I'm in an aggressive mix.
  21. Yes, but, if you don't need the money in the next year or two, it doesn't really matter. Indeed, this is a great time to buy*. That said, I do need some of the money to help my kids pay off student loans.....so ya, this has hurt a bit. Really, most people should just ignore the market until they are much, much, older, and just keep putting money in. *that is not financial advice, that is an opinion. I repeat, that is NOT financial advice.
