    Well, they are 12th (in the AL) in bullpen WAR for the year so far.....hard to say it is a good bullpen. If you prefer a leverage measure, like win probability.....they are 13th in the AL..... if you like ERA (ignoring inherited runners, for example)....they are 13th in the AL.... So, ya, it's not like this is even close to a good bullpen for the year.

    Ah, got it. Always hard to tell. Yes, investments come with risk. Yes, the wealthy and powerful and others will do everything they can to manipulate the system to milk it (and us) for every penny.

    No player should try to lose, nor any manager. Of course, that's not happens in practice in any sport, but that straw man won't die...... I don't think they should call up A players and try to lose..... I do think they should gut the team of many veterans, and bring up AAA players that are legit parts of the future sooner rather than later.

    All nice minor moves, I don't think anyone doubts his ability to do minor moves. Seems to be his specialty.

    The argument being made is that this team isn't a good idea for a good candidate.....you raise a 100% different argument.....

    I agree with MLR.....any* GM position is a good GM position. *unless the owner is crazy odd / hands on.....are there any like that in MLB? the Angels? Miami?

    Fangraphs (I dropped the ABs down to 200 to add more players) Mauer: 7th (Park is number 1 in UZR/150) Dozier: 31st of 35..... Nunez: 21 (at SS) Escobar: 26 Plouffe: 37 of 40 (Valencia is last, btw) Suzuki: 35 of 54 Kepler: 31 of 41 (that's a bit surprising) Buxton: 25 of 43 Santana: (CF) 31 of 43 Rosario: 17 Grossman: 37 of 43 I know everyone will say this is BUNK because of the Buxton rating.....but there are a lot of things that go into the DEF scores, and he scores pretty much median in every part of the score. I expect that to improve over time. So, ya, the defense isn't good....
