I agree, even if I don't like the specifics. This team missed the playoffs 4 of 5 years and was not exactly LOW in payroll......I'm not sure how this team reacts for a few weeks, though. They gotta be pissed (even if their play is the reason).

You said acquire? I guess you might have meant trade, but it's hard to imagine anyone trading young, controllable players. those are the guys most coveted. But it isn't impossible....

Missed the TJ.....I still move him to RP and be aggressive (once fully healthy). He's already 22 and hasn't really pitched.....

Fangraphs has him unranked, but under power pitcher sleepers: Horn was last year’s sixth rounder out of Liberty. He’s a vertically-oriented lefty who was 92-95 in his most recent ACL outing prior to list publication. That’s up above the 91-92 he sat in 2024. His breaking pitches are also a few ticks harder now. He's in A ball/complex, so a 22 year old college guy not even in A ball full time yet.....a true lottery ticket. I'd make him a RP right now and put him in A or A+ ball.

Pretty much what was happening, except Lee is now the SS. And they don't have a closer. Or left handed RP that can get an out. And are down one set up man. (maybe Castro?)., So, lots of losing. Hopefully they DFA a couple of guys and move some guys up.....

They aren't signing 3 young free agents for 10 million each! There aren't even three available, and any good FA is going to cost 15-25 million a year.

Fangraphs has a lot more than this, but this is the summary on Mendez: (in addition to noting he hits 60% of his struck balls on the ground!): Mendez is going to be a nice big league role player despite his flaws, though his overall impact is going to be limited by 30-grade outfield defense.

With what? Unless new owners will spend money, wisely? Are you getting a 2B with Lee, Keaschell and Eelse around? Nope. There is no really good catcher to pay. That leave first and one OF, maybe. But will you really block Erod and Jenkins and Gonzalez? It's all on Buxton and Lewis and whichever SS they have and 2b they have being good, or the rest likely won't matter. In other words, the same as the last 5 years. The issue remains, the core isn't good enough, healthy enough.

Are they? They just traded for a 28 yo OF who can't hit. They still have Ryan and Jax. Heck, and Varland at this point might be gone before they are good again.

I was OK with dealing him, as this core isn't good enough. On the theory that might mean this FO and manager play all the yutes. But then they trade FOR OUTMAN, who is old and bad.......so I have no idea at this point what the plan actually is.
