  1. interesting. Not sure if serious. I'd rather the FO was great at their job, with constraints, than they are bad at their job. Or did I misunderstand the post?
  2. I know I did when my son did (or wife). Mowing was never my thing. Weeding? Sure. but not mowing.
  3. I really like doing electrical work, as long as the walls are open. It is a nice change from the work I do, that rarely sees direct results for years...
  4. Great performance by ESan. I remain hopeful he can be good next year, but I wouldn't bet my franchise on it...
  5. I don't think insurance kicks in much....but agree it is a red herring. If it does kick in much, they budget for that based on probabilities anyway.
  6. well argued and written, I hope you are wrong. if not, this team is in serious trouble if they ever have a core worth paying.
  7. why would they keep it at this level? It's not exactly high right now...
  8. The only team that might "tank" next year is the White Sox....but I have my doubts.
  9. The Twins have room for 30MM more in spending, and mauer comes off the books in a year......there should be no budget constraints. Also, Santiago is likely gone. Also, Gimenez can be replaced with Garver. Also, Belisle and Breslow with rookies. Also Gibson with a rookie. So, ya, if they want a SP and a DH, there is plenty of room....plenty.
  10. what does trading ESAN or not have to do with whether they should have signed a legit RP and/or SP?
  11. 1 signing of 1 SP and 1 legit RP......that would have been good with a lot of us, on either side of hte fence. And, that's the minimum I expect this year. "fill" is not something anyone asked for.
  12. our disagreement on the beauty of that is probably not overcomable.....but explains why not every problem is easily solved in the world, because many of us come from different starting points...
  13. that must have been the confusing part, two TD posters agreeing so quickly!
  14. they tried to sign a DH this off season, and failed. Why do we feel this will be "easy" to do this off season?
  15. to be clear, I'm not saying cut Vargas from AAA....but if you won't try him out seriously this year, when will you?
  16. given that Ryan said they weren't rebuilding, no one with teh Twins? so, if not next year, when? which next year is it, because on this site, the goal posts move back every single year.
  17. Agree on most of this. Seriously, start cutting guys now. Grossman is not part of a winning future. Gimenez is not part of any future. Either call Vargas up, and let him play every day, or move on. Park is only signed for 1 more year past this year, so who cares if he gets hot or not in AAA. Granite is a fine 4th OF, since he can play defense, though I think we are judging his offense a bit fast.
  18. So go with less RPs, and shuttle them back and forth between AAA then..... Realistically? Grossman is not part of a winning roster. I'd consider DFAing him right now. He can't play defense, and his OPS is driven too much by the walk and single to be truly valuable from a DH/bad corner OF. Get rid of the chaffe....
  19. you don't let a pitcher hit in a 1 run game. That's just bad strategy. That's also part of learning. I think you are vastly over thinking what he can learn in this situation, vs trying to win the game. And yes, in development seasons, you still make decisions to try to win.
