  1. I remain disappointed they did nothing to fix the bullpen. And it's only going to get worse now that they have almost no off days. Good luck to the manager trying to juggle this collection.
  2. Both got money already. No way they rip them off like Atlanta did. Also, their families aren't in bad situations. I'm guessing no.
  3. Isn't he hitting better than he did all of last year right now? I'm not sure what needs unlocking..... His OBP and SLG are higher this year than in any of his previous full seasons.......what are people looking for?
  4. Of course, we are basing these opinions on history too, not just this year. I don't get how that isn't clear. So, no, it isn't really to assess some of these pitchers.
  5. Plenty of people here weren't sleeping on Garver. If anything, the opposite.
  6. No one does. But you really think they should carry Cron and Cruz and Austin? Because those first two aren't going anywhere at this point, even if some of us would have used the Cron money as part of a payment on pitching....
  7. I worry about the starters first. IMO, no team can carry three DH / 1B types on a 25 man roster. You can't live in fear of injury to the detriment of the people that will actually play. So, sure, if Garver and Astudillo and Cron all get hurt, that would weaken the position. But you can't carry a guy that never plays just in case three guys so get hurt. IMO.
  8. At some point next year, one of those guys will be ready, if they don't re-sign Cron and Cruz, yes. In the context of this team, they can't afford Austin and those two. I'm sure they look at the minors and feel someone can take his place. But they aren't cutting Austin because of any one of them, they are cutting Austin because of Cron and Cruz.
  9. Where did I say that, ever? I never did. I said once they signed Cron and Cruz, the writing was on the wall. I also said at the time, I'd have rolled with Austin, and used the money on pitching.
  10. Kiriloff comes up because I listed about 6-10 players that are younger than Austin ..... one of which will end up at 1B over time. For me, this isn't about him specifically, but the talent in the system, reminding us that bat only 1B are not hard to find/replace..... But, I do think Kiriloff has a good chance to outhit Austin as soon as he's up. Hopefully later this year, but I'm guessing next.
  11. It's a UNH bloodbath, which if you are me, is kind of not good......
  12. If you are really a believer, ten percent is nothing.... And you should still buy, not that this is financial advice....
  13. . What if he's a great hitter, would you trade that for a mediocre pitcher? Because that may be your only other option. Would you trade five years of a great hitter for two of a good pitcher? Because that's probably the best you'll get.
  14. Of course, our opinions are also based on last year, not just this year. Not to mention they only have Berrios for next year.....
  15. The other option is to trade some.... But if Kirilloff can hit like some think, he's better at first base than AAA, when ready.... Not to mention Sano moving at some point.
  16. Rosario, Buxton, Kepler, Cave, Wade, Kirilloff, Rooker, Lanarch, and more.... One will move to first, one will DH and backup first and the OF. It's better to waste their speed and get their bat in the lineup, than keep them around adding no value to the major league team. Frankly, given their dearth of pitching,I think they are going to have to make a trade.... But we'll see
  17. Hell, I'm 55 and I'm still all in on stocks and retirement savings.....we have little cash. Yes, we sold stock to buy our house, but we could not have done that if we had not been all in on stocks the last decade.
  18. Most likely, but the launch angle revolution and the ball change(s) might make some difference, but ya, I'm thinking 1.5-2 WAR really......
  19. I'd rather have Keuchel than a RP.....but then, I'm looking at next year's SP, not just this year's......One good SP under contract past this year. One.
