    One game proves nothing. Would you rather have Perez or Grienke start? How would you recommend the Twins build the staff for next year, without spending money?

    I'm not sure what that means re my post. It's been a very good year. I was responding to a post that said pitching couldn't be fixed in one year.....I was pointing out that that was on their decision to bring in Perez instead of a good pitcher. If they keep the budget level, and don't sign Perez, they could have traded for or signeda pitcher, and still had these hitters. They choose not to. That's all that post said, nothing at all about the overall season.

    A very odd decision indeed. It made no sense at the time, and less as the game went on. Mind. Boggling.

    Except that's why they can't fix the rotation in one year. They made this bed, I'm not going to let them off the hook for next year's rotation. Other people can say it can't be done, but it it can't be done, that's on them

    If only there had been an off season before this year, where they could have added a pitcher under control past this year that wasn't one of the worst pitchers in the game last year...

    Twins have no great starters. They had a six percent chance when Gibson came in. That made sense to me. The rest? We can second guess, but there aren't many good choices if you eliminate all but three RPs.....

    Do people think Rocco decided on Dobnak without the front office? I'm guessing no. The failures of this team are in the front office, as are the successes. Yes, Rocco makes a difference, he's part of that front office team, but he doesn't decide lives lineups our starters without the front office. Passing on Corbin and Keuchel is the biggest issue with this team.

    I assume you mean the front office strategy. This isn't decided by the catcher or pitchers.

    So start Dobnak in game three? That's the same thing. I really don't know what you actually wanted different.

    Well. Pineda, Gibson, and Perez were not options. And this front office passed on Corbin and Keuchel. You'll love next year's starters!

    By that logic, no Littel or Gaterol either. Clearly not Gibson, or Berrios, or Dobnak either there. You don't bring in Romo or Rogers there. You have five innings, how do you get five innings without using any of this pitchers yesterday? And then have anyone you are willing to pitch today, since you won't use rookies today either, if the game is close. Those guys are on the roster. What would you like Rocco to do? Not use four of the eight RPs at all?

    He was wrong that it wasn't important to the Twins, guess I didn't make that clear. I'm indifferent to the Gibson decision one way or the other. I don't do it, but I get the theory.

    Most of the people in this thread are clearly saying that the best RPs should pitch yesterday, today, and the next game. I'm not convinced that will work. I'm also not sure who those two or three are, and how many outs they can get in a game.... It was the fifth inning. If they can't trust Littel, or stashak, who should come in in the fifth? Not Berrios, not Gibson, not Dobnak, not Romo, I'm guessing people would rip it being Gaterol if they don't think rookies should be in. And then, who comes in the sixth, if not any of those players? This is the roster. We can question the roster, but that's not on Rocco. He can only use the guys he has. They needed more than four innings of outs, what would everyone have done instead, inning by inning.....

    I can't believe everyone calling for the best RPs to pitch every inning.... They've shown to be it's effective on back to back games. It's not realistic to ask them to do so. People wanted, what, more than four innings from their best RPs, and then the same again today?

    Based on what? Stashak was effective this year... The Twins can't only pitch their top two two to three RPs all series.

    I have no idea why Schoop isn't starting vs a lefty. Bizarre decision.

    Kepler is an above average center fielder, in admittedly small samples......

    That's the best at this point. I agree with every decision. If they get past the Yankees, I expect more lefty pitchers.....
