  1. what realistic plan do you like at this point?
  2. Compared to a random guy in A or AA last year? Keuchel isn't likely to be better than that? You believe he's not likely to be better than someone from their minors that isn't already penciled in? Also, Cleveland just signed a new starting 2B......today.
  3. good post. Well written and persuasive.
  4. I'd be good with a trade for Archer over either of these two options for sure. Of course, he'll cost money and prospects.....not just money.
  5. you said signing those guys would not be an improvement.......over what they have now. that's all I was responding to. I have no idea who will be good with certainty, but I'd bet he's better than any of the rookies on the Twins this year, so yes, he'd be an improvement. And, it isn't about just Bumgarner or Ryu, but all of the 20+ free agent starting pitchers they've passed on......
  6. You think the rookies on this roster will be better then Ryu and Bumgarner this year?
  7. they refused to offer that much to any of the free agents this year, why would we think they'll do so for Odo, when they don't have to to keep him this year/
  8. According to national writers, this is the best FA class since 2003.....and the team has added one relief pitcher so far that wasn't on the roster last year. And signed a backup catcher. On a team that cut payroll last year.....
  9. No. People just keep listing players they hope are available. But if we look at the off season trade market, top starting pitchers aren't traded that often. About 0-3 a year......
  10. uh, the white sox. Unless you think filling 3-5 of your holes with new players isn't moving forward. And the Angels, and he Yankees. It isn't just about winning a division.
  11. I'd look at the last two trade deadlines, and the lack of action this year, and ask to be traded. Professional athletes are competitors unlike most others on the planet. They have to be to rise to the top of the pack like they do. I'm guessing there are some unhappy players in MN now (guessing being the key word, of course). This looks exactly like when Torii and Johan said the future never comes.
  12. If you stand still while everyone else moves forward.....
  13. The Mets aren't trading Thor, not unless Buxton and / or Sano are in the deal, plus prospects.
  14. It's more than 10 million a year more, for a less healthy guy.....it's a way worse risk. Way worse.
  15. Uh, they spent that money on other players.......like Corbin. They did nothing of the sort of "going all out". Not even close.
  16. Because he misjudged teh market, I'd guess. He's got to be kicking himself for not taking a shot at 4-5 years at 18-22 million per. kicking himself.
  17. Why would Odo sign here? We are told FAs don't want to come here....why would he want to stay?
  18. They passed on just spending money...... And not prospects. But sure, if they suddenly trade for a great pitcher, things can turn around. You think they will?
  19. MLB had it's seventeenth straight year of record revenues this year......
  20. The Royals have drafted terribly. They aren't this bad because of a few trades. If they still had those players, they probably aren't great right now anyway. Is that better?
  21. Not only this year. But yes, winning this year is part of the goal. I've been 100 percent consistent.... They can't keep going year to year on pitching.
  22. Ray is signed for one year? So, again, in the same spot next year, Odo and Ray will be free agents.... I'll take Ray, but it's another short term band aid.
  23. They prioritize money over winning is not the same thing as wanting to lose. Business is all about setting priorities, and in the history of this team, it's fairly clear that winning is not the top priority. Which is cool, they should make money. The question is, is there ever a time to spend more, increasing the odds of winning more, assuming you trust the FO to spend well. Which I mostly do.
  24. I was literally replying to a post about trading for a good starter, and how hard that is.
  25. So, pretty much the Twins before this last season?
