  1. True, but that doesn't change the fact it doesn't usually go well when politicians admit that
  2. It's hard to believe in an era when cities give money away, this owner can't pull it off....
  3. No chance. Skenes could be a starter now in the majors. If he isn't, they aren't trying to win.
  4. I mean, I'd do that.....and I don't think for one minute they want to deal JJ. I'm just saying it isn't impossible.
  5. I mean, I clearly need to branch out from just Fangraphs....others can post here too!
  6. Andy Dufresne: Are you bullish on Correa exceeding his projections now that the foot (and septum) are fixed? Avatar Dan Szymborski: Mildly so? I tend to be skeptical over “OK, this fixes the injury thing for good” things
  7. If he's one of the top pitchers in the game, he's worthy, and that what the top pitchers do, pitch 150 innings. The article wasn't even about elite, it was about typical...... And I merely pointed out there's nothing typical about 200 innings, or even 190.... Or even 150.
  8. Of course, now I'm reading we don't need a decision by then....
  9. A bit of fun for your reading.... https://blogs.fangraphs.com/has-anyone-ever-hit-the-target-field-target/
  10. apparently it is in the Vikings best interest to sign Kirk before valentine's day, due to cap considerations (if they are signing him). So, if that's really true, we'll know soon what the plan is....
  11. hahahahahaha. No. Now, JJ for the number 3 and a 2nd and a first plus next year? I mean, if JJ wants to be gone......but only if he wants to be gone.
  12. Which young guys? Wallner, Julien and ? Buxton, Kepler, CC, Vazquez, Farmer, Santana are long time vets. Jeffers isn't young in terms of MLB experience and has Vazquez. I'll give you AK also..... On the pitching side? Ober and ? are young?
  13. I get that. I think people under-estimate the value of "certainty" with Lee. Also, his ceiling. But I get it.
  14. Hence "if" and "when healthy". MOST pitchers only have so many healthy pitches in their arms.
  15. Jenkins, Lee, ERod, Raya.....for me.
  16. I get this thinking, I hate this thinking. If he's better than some of the other 13 pitchers, clearly better, he should be up. While healthy.
  17. 200 innings? What year was this written? Only 15 pitchers pitched more than 190 innings last year. I have no idea why this is a thing at all in people's minds anymore. Only 58 pitchers pitched 150 or more innings. Really. I just don't get this idea that 200 is any kind of target at all. Now, had you said even 120 innings, I'd nod and say "ya, that's a good question" at this point. Me? I'm betting he goes 4 innings a start, give or take, to start the year. He finishes the year in the major league bullpen for the last month and playoffs.
  18. Not quite as rosy..... You should pay attention to the caveat.... https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-2024-pre-spring-training-zips-projected-standings-american-league/
  19. How many leaders do they need? Outside Wallner and Julien, who is young and not a leader? Because we're told Lewis is one. I'm not downplaying the importance of mentors, I've been pretty clear about their importance my whole life....I just wonder if that's why these signings are happening. I think Santana is here because he's always healthy and a potentially league average player.
  20. If you aren't excited about this player, well, I just don't know what to say.
  21. They project the Twins as average, but more likely than not to win the division https://blogs.fangraphs.com/six-takeaways-from-our-2024-playoff-odds-release/
  22. Agreed. And Wallner and Julien up all year. There is ceiling, but it comes with risk.
  23. There's a zero percent chance we'll agree on this, and I no longer argue for the sake of arguing on social media, so I'll just bow out of this conversation.
  24. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/first-basemen-need-to-change-their-evil-ways-baby/ Sort of about Santana
