  1. How about the last two years? I mean, at some point, guys drop off (or have lingering injuries).
  2. But they have Farmer and Castro this year.....they had 2 open hitter spots, and decided not to use either on a guy with options. The only way the AAA guy see real time is if someone important goes down for months at a time.....which is fine, that's a strategy. It isn't one I like. Heck, they've also filled the bullpen with old guys w/o options. You know how they love to cut bait on those guys (not).
  3. I don't see many people screaming about the prospect they gave up....more about the guy they got...... The MLB player isn't a throw in, he blocks younger guys. He's on the roster.
  4. Don't care. The issue is the back of the MLB bench being old without options. And not all that good. Blocking the minor league guys.
  5. On the plus side, nope, can't think of one. This team is clogged with old veterans that can't be optioned at the end of the bench and bullpen. Just not a fan at all.
  6. This would not be my favorite decision.
  7. If I'm an expansion team, I'm taking veterans I can trade for prospects..... And really young players I can keep around. If I'm the Twins, I think I'd base my protection around that.
  8. I'm not criticizing anyone. I'm pointing out that if you have a budget, and get one time money, it's bad strategy to commit past one year. How is that debatable?
  9. I was aiming for five, maybe ten, percent over two weeks.... lucky for me this time. It's not always that way....
  10. When did they sign CC to the second deal? Wasn't that last year ?
  11. Vazquez for a defense first catcher for ten million. They didn't shed Kepler either. Covering is fine, if you don't plan to sign anyone else, and that doesn't account for next year's increases. My preference is irrelevant to what a team with budget constraints should do.
  12. One more thought... If the BAM money was one time.... They should not have signed long term deals, but only one year deals last year.. Locking in long term deals with one time money is bad business.
  13. Nice 16% profit in less than a week on that swing trade.....
  14. If they were emulating the Ray's, Kepler would be traded. They aren't really emulating them. They need to pick a lane.
  15. Also, Baltimore was terrible for years, and refused to invest in the team last year .... I'd guess their payroll is lower than the Twins....
  16. All y'all have staked out your positions for years on this topic. You have more stamina than me!
  17. I'm trying to be a better person, so I'll feel bad for him for a minute or two. He's one of the final straws for me ever rooting for individual athletes......
  18. Cool. Was just going to check....
  19. Likely it does nothing good. You can be competitive without spending in the top half, but you aren't winning it all.
  20. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2024-prospect-week-chat/ ram 1:15 Has there ever been a disparity between your list and the ZIPs list that has caused you to go back and reevaluate a prospect? Eric A Longenhagen 1:17 Yes, Danny sends me zips a few days ahead so i can double check some guys. This year it was Danny de Andrade, who I felt comfortable moving on from quickly from a top 100 standpoint, still a fair prospect who'll be on their team list
  21. For fun? I'm going with Montgomery for 1-2 years......
  22. At least he's being honest.
  23. Big fan of this combination. I expect Jeffers to be about ten percent worse, and Vazquez to be much better.... So a little better overall than last year. I hope Jeffers starts about ten or twenty more games than last year....
