Princess Leia: Help us Obi-Wan Clemonobi! You’re our only hope! Keep Royce Lewis from any more freak injuries, master Jedi! 2:28 Ben Clemens: You want the impossible! Chickie: Edouard Julien just got sent to AAA for poor performance and the return of Royce Lewis. Take a look at both Julien and ELDC’s numbers over the past 28 days and they’re pretty darn close. With the exception of SBs and K’s, where Elly holds that advantage/disadvantage. If McLain and Marte were healthy and active , I’d guess Elly would’ve been AAA bound himself. 2:50 Ben Clemens: I mean, what? 2:51 Ben Clemens: I do not think that makes sense? And like…. if you’re sending people down for 28 days of performance you should not be anywhere near a GM’s seat 2:51 Ben Clemens: Dan is writing about the Julien demotion later today, or maybe it’s already up actually -
Playing crappy players in case good ones get hurt is silly. You aren't winning with crappy players anyway. Are we sure this one month of data tells us more about Eddie than the previous 5 months? I'm not. If Margot can only play the corners, and not hit, I'm not interested in him being on the roster. It isn't about being crippled, but having the best 26 guys playing. Not having massive black holes getting lots of at bats......like when Margot, Farmer, and Vazquez are all in the lineup. That's 1/3 of your lineup almost an automatic out at this point. Wallner outhit Margot and Farmer and Vazquez, and doesn't have a job. Julien, even more so. Martin outhit all three of them, out of a job. Margot has put up negative fWAR, as has Vazquez, and Farmer has put up zero. That's three replacement (or worse) players....Farmer has over 100 ABs, and now Julien isn't on the roster....

Why are we only looing at batting average? Julien has been a league average hitter and slightly above average fielding 2B this year.....when taking into account slugging and walks, etc....Margot has not. And they won't even play him in CF....

He's close to the worst hitter in the game. How much defense can fix that? Really. 406 batters have 50 or more at bats. He's the 400th "best" hitter......5 wrc+. That's not a typo......

No early HS pitchers, please ... One reason they don't have pitchers taken early high in their rankings is they don't take pitchers early..... Can't have them ranked if you almost never take them.

First rule here is to say Vazquez is the greatest defender ever and his hitting is irrelevant....

Martin for Farmer is the obvious move at this point. He can play second and the OF, and is a legit speedster for late inning running. Julien need a reset. Plenty of great players needed one at some point. I'm confident he'll hit well again. The question is, will he or Lee do it first? I'm all for Miranda at first over Santana, but that's not happening.....

Great news! In two years that won't even be ten percent of their cap....
-
Doubling down? On this year? Unreal. They give the smallest amount of at bats to bad players. The data is out there. They don't have Margot, Vazquez, Santana, Wallner, Kiriloff types on their roster. Why are you mentioning players not even on the roster this year?

Margot just isn't good. Martin might be. We'll never know if he doesn't play.

For the same reason Margot has a job over Martin? In fairness, I think they want Julien to reset his brain.

Can't play in to the lineup if a team sticks with guys that are among the worst hitters in baseball. How does one get an opportunity, if not given one?

Lack of lineup depth? The Yankees give the least at bats to bad players in all of baseball.

Every time. You don't need the DH if you don't score more runs... -

Letting Vazquez hit is unreal. Truly mind boggling. -
The plan isn't working. Sticking with it is bad management. I have no idea why Margot should be on this roster at this point. Other than that was the plan

My guess? A good young player so they can have bad depth. My want? Margot, Farmer, or Santana. I mean, I'd do Margot and Farmer right now and bring up kiersey and Lewis. Once Wallner is right, bring him up and move on from Santana.

They are giving the least number of ABs of any team in the majors to replacement level or worse players......they just don't have bad players getting at bats this year. Yes, Soto is a HUGE help, but they don't currently have weaknesses at the plate.

Trust Miranda/Julien/Kiriloff to play first base, for a starter. Don't use your scarce money on a backup. And another backup. And another backup. When you decide you won't have a good sized budget, you can't pay backups millions when you can use rookies for A LOT less. Might not work, but then you either learned they rookies can't be relied on, or got them ready for next year, or it worked. Now? Now we have a bunch of mediocre veterans, and they still aren't producing....
