  1. This wasn't about Martin, but I found it instructive for him (and others)......Those here that think there is no development left in MLB (and there are some of you here)....this is for you: Keith Law 1:39 Don't think he has anything to learn in AAA. The gap between that level and the majors is enormous. Teams have to adjust and be willing to let hitters come up and struggle for a few months as they adjust to better pitching.
  2. Been impressed at him again this year, was not expecting him to be good again, given his history. Excellent signing by the FO.
  3. Different things.... People here seem to be complaining they are free, but on the wrong app.... Don't get me wrong, baseball broadcasting is broken..... We all agree on that.
  4. This is why some of us wanted him off SS and in the OF much sooner in the minors.... He's been ok, but I agree, he should go back down when Buxton is ready. And, put Emma in AAA
  5. I guess I thought more free games was a good idea..... Apparently not?
  6. That has nothing to do with fancy stats.
  7. What do statistics matter for watching a game or not? I've never understood this.
  8. Twins bullpen is in the bottom third in innings pitched....
  9. I understand all of that ... You may recall previous years where the stuck with veterans....
  10. Vazquez is 50th in fwar among catchers..... So, no. That includes his defense... Imagine if every player on the team hit like him... Yes, defense matters, but you have to score to win.
  11. Depth is negative if the players are bad. All teams have depth, the question is which guys on the list are better and play ..... As long as they make the playoffs, I mostly trust them to have the right guys in Minnesota, but if they blow five or six games in the name of depth.....
  12. Twins bullpen is 21 st in innings pitched. Since fwar is a volume stat, that effects their rank. If they were league median in innings, they'd be right around ninth. Otoh, that would drop the starters just a bit ... I'm shocked, pleasantly, at how Castro has remained so valuable. Imagine this team with Lewis and CC always healthy. As for me, I have always believed in Jeffers, and was shocked at the projections....
  13. A million times this. Plus they are terrified of injuries, and believe blowing games to have worse players up, so they have depth, is somehow better ...
  14. Ya outside a few great RPs, from what I read, results are somewhat variable year to year..... It's why it's great to trade them at the deadline if you are out of it
  15. This obsession with having mediocre veterans up so they have good depth in the minors..... Jackson isn't at good as two guys in AAA, but they really prefer depth over quality. Cost them today.
  16. They eliminated a level of ball, and more guys are in AAA that would be at lower levels. I think fangraphs had something on this a couple weeks ago.
  17. The sooner he's off the roster, the sooner he can't take at bats from someone. I am truly amazed it's this bad. I had low expectations, but not like this. Truly stunned.
  18. Who the F said profit doesn't matter? Not me. I said that given every sports team in the US sells for big gains, every one of them, it is unlikely any of them lose money, or, as you point out, they wouldn't sell for big gains.
  19. Given sports teams always sell for massive gains, they aren't losing money. Unless they are the only major US sports team ever to do so.
  20. Fair. We disagree on whether that comment is appropriate or not. I think it isn't appropriate, ever, in a work place. Ever.
  21. I read the comment from someone else, that's what I responded to, this part of the article: “Meka will rock a dress and some Jordans and be able to sell water to a whale,” says Nicole Jeter West, CEO of brand agency Underdog Ventures. “And she can get away with it,” adds Twins CEO Dave St. Peter, “because she rocks them so well.” Read that last line.....
