There are media people like Dan Cole who are taking a stand against child abuse (he is presumably pro- puppy dog and strongly in favor of the sunrise) only as it relates to the professional athletes he is paid to take down. There is no sense that he is ever interested in addressing issues like this, but has only been waiting for the right opportunity. It just gives him and other media people something easy to talk about, period. On the other hand there are guys like Cris Carter I guess who seem to want to advance the debate -- what is appropriate discipline. Who decides. What part do we wish our public officials to have in deciding. Good to discuss. To my mind Adrian is in the wrong even if he genuinely didn't believe he was doing anything wrong. It's not as black and white as he thinks. He gets paid to take and give bodily punishment, and our society condones this… yet here we are talking about a little child. I think he should have some sort of significant suspension but no idea how long. Football cannot be a priority for him right now. This is not to defend him though or defend NFL policy.

On that same note, it should be criticism that Gardy & coaches advocated moving some of these guys into the system. Not sure who exactly you are referring to though.

It wouldn't be unheard of to see a young player bust on the scene with a 6-8 WAR their first full season. This could mean Sano or Vargas next year, Buxton the year after. Trout hung a 10.0 his first season. Also, Florimon's WAR was -0.2 which describes an inherent flaw in this stat. I like to see a better way to quantify Florimon's mistaken June call up. Priority #1 - starting pitching Priority #1a - outfield defense. I think Schafer might be an answer. Note that I did not say will be the answer.

The Bartlett retirement was devastating to our clubhouse chemistry and it's taken most of the season to repair that chemistry. Snark aside, I think Chief makes a good point.

lots of things happen to Kenny... We don't have to get into it here.

Sconnie and I have been camp counselors there for four years now. We call it Camp Too Late, for short. We had a lot of young kids come up this summer but other than this guy Danny, Eddie, and a kid we call "little Kenny", we didn't give any of the kids any playing time........

Free Pinto! Ok RB, Gardy believes Zuke is having a great year and is superior to Pinto... why can't we do what's best for the Minnesota Twins instead of what's best for the "integrity of the game" and the Detroit Tigers!!! /soapbox

That's dedication, my friend. please don't lose sight of priorities!

Still maybe a little hurt he was sent off. Span's a sensitive guy. Human nature.

Haha Ausmus moves his perfectly good veteran center fielder Rajai Davis into a corner outfield spot in favor of a young guy in center who spent most of the year in the minors. Who coulda thunk anything bad might happen Gardy > Ausmus

last night's starter was Swarzak, so we know that this reason can't be it... Also, Cheryl Tiegs.

Another night on the bench, another night of instructional conversation between Steinbach and Pinto on the finer points of catching at the Major League level...

Can you elaborate on the claim that this is a talentless roster? Not trying to make this personal, I just want to understand why people believe this. The back end of the rotation is bad; I get it. What about the rest?

was she on tv too or just radio? I heard it too, and I've never been more entertained......

What is the latest rumor/update with the Saints new ballpark in Lowertown? (downtown St Paul) -- I heard that with some upgrades that would be a possible location.

Josmil Pinto probably asked for the day off, coming off of catching the doubleheader Saturday followed by day game Sunday.

Maybe we retain Gardy and stumble into another 90-win season one of these years, but unfortunately Gardy (whatever his strengths) is an old dog as predictable as the day is long and a sharp opponent should have no trouble lining up a postseason series against us anymore. see also New York Yankees, 2009-2010.

Terry Ryan gave a huge vote of confidence to Escobar on his show yesterday, so there's that.
  20. Hosken Bombo Disco
Keep singing the Schafer song... I've got your flank. Ever since Delmon and slow footed Willingham, I just think it's nice to have someone with speed and a glove out there.
  21. Hosken Bombo Disco
Fred Gwynne for next Twins Manager! 2015! oh I mean Gene Glynn not Fred Gwynne... Minnesota sports... *sigh*
  22. Hosken Bombo Disco
Yes with the Vikings trailing 67-5 at half we can al zero in on the Twins pennant race...
  23. Hosken Bombo Disco
At least Josmil Pinto has gotten some work at catcher this series!!!!!!!! oh wait......
  24. Hosken Bombo Disco
1-1/2 innings complete, 1 hour elapsed,... game might not be over at press time.
  25. Hosken Bombo Disco
Arcia! Now has three runs to his credit to give back in the outfield.
