  1. Milwaukee is in a tough division right now and won't be competing next year. There's no reason for them to hang on to Lucroy.
  2. I predict whatever Nostrombolimus predicts.
  3. You could be right. Hosmer might take second, but Cain definitely stays at third in that scenario. Runners on second and third with no out is still looking bleak but at least no run has scored. And then maybe you walk Morales to set up a DP.
  4. I saw the overhead too and was surprised it was outside. It looked over the plate. But it was clearly too high to be a strike for Revere. Otherwise good ball-strike calling and great game.
  5. I know how you feel. Anyway, Hosmer hit a liner into the right field corner, and Bautista's throw back to the infield was a lazy, one-bounce, mid-season lob into second base, instead of a hard throw to the cutoff man. Third base coach Jirshele, our hero from Game 7 last year, waved home Cain from first base, and that was the winning run. The play wasn't close but still a gutsy wave home. (KC also hit into a double play with bases loaded in that inning iirc). Bottom of 9th, Wade Davis allowed the first two Blue Jays to get on base and steal two bases, but he buckled down for the save.
  6. Can't we all just get back to bashing AJ?
  7. I think the Twins should start using the pitcher as a cutoff man on steals to second, and we can bring that percentage down.
  8. I know AJ is popular pick, but if we are going for a good hitting catcher, why not just develop Pinto?
  9. What is the velocity of AJ's throws to the bases on stolen base attempts, compared to other catchers in the organization?
  10. Generally, there's no penalty to the pitcher for interrupting his windup if no one is on base, whether he gets a bug in his eye or if he gets creative with his delivery, like Nomo. Also, the first statement in that section undercuts your argument somewhat: There are two legal pitching positions, the Windup Position and the Set Position, and either position may be used at any time. Whatever, it's an interesting idea and fun to know that Estrada has such an odd windup. You wonder how he developed it like that.
  11. Question for you, and I know you've seen this: 1. Nobody on base, pitcher pitching from the windup. 2. He starts his windup. 3. He gets a bug in his eye or something. 4. Interrupts his windup/ does not throw pitch. ..........What happens?
  12. That's his wind up delivery. I think from what you are saying, a key clause would be: "any natural movement associated with his delivery"
  13. I wish the Twins would give Oswaldo Arcia that vote of confidence as a right fielder!
  14. Emphasis in the original text?
  15. This is the alternate reality. If you were wondering how Joe the QB would have done if he chose to play baseball, now you know.
  16. Schwarber makes Arcia look fine and polished. Not sure what it means that a supposed progressive organization like the Cubs ran Schwarber out to the outfield in a playoff series.
  17. We're lucky he chose baseball. Honestly, watch these football highlights and tell me he wouldn't have been a pro bowl NFL quarterback. Not being facetious.* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGHvoV2L9qU * I am not a scout, however
  18. Tim Lincecum is under 6' feet, and he didn't even take care of himself off the field while winning those Cy Youngs. But he had stuff.
  19. Fixed. But seriously, that full count called strike to Denorfia was a thing of beauty. Clippard's fastball was a little low but d'Arnaud practically snow-coned it in his catcher mitt webbing and then with a twist of the wrist BOOM it's a pitch right at the knees.
  20. Also, Travis d'Arnaud is a master pitch framer
  21. I'd rather invest that free agent money in analytics and staff. I'd rather bring in additional staff with new approaches and new ideas. Make sure guys like Berrios, May, and Duffey are set up for success. Also, the Twins shouldn't write off Alex Meyer. It wasn't too long ago that Meyer was a fast track to the majors. Bringing in new staff and new ideas is a lot to ask of a conservative organization like the Twins, but it's a lot cheaper to develop your own guys than pay big money for other teams retreads.
  22. Nice trifecta of errors in the top of 7th by the Cubbies big three: Bryant, Schwarber, Rizzo. None of which will show up in the box score.
  23. And by the phrase "what offer would Mauer get on the open market," you really mean "what offer would he get from the Twins." I can't see him ever playing for another team. I guess that's why I think reworking his present contract makes all the sense in the world to the fans and both parties. It makes him a lifetime employee.
  24. Canada's election, twinsnorth49. Your thoughts.
  25. This is a good exercise. If we had done this last year, you might see a lot of guys in higher tiers, like Arcia and Suzuki and Danny Santana. You would see other guys who were lower last year, and Sano in tier 1 or 2, instead of untouchable. I expect Plouffe won't be any more valuable to another team than he is right now. Plouffe will turn 30. We know Ryan is overly conservative but this shows that he finally has major league talent to bargain with, if he chooses.
