  1. Agreed. Jumble. Rosario seemed at home in left field. I don't know why the Twins wouldn't just leave him there if they can.
  2. I'd prefer to see O'Rourke be the LOOGY and Perkins continue to play late-inning guy instead of closer. Those two guys satisfy our lefty bullpen needs as far as I'm concerned. Then there's Jepsen, and Fien is now a lock, and I think you also start with Pressley. That makes 5 of the 7. Beyond that, we'll see. There will be a starter or two who misses out on the rotation. Possibly Trevor May. I think it's time to start working in Meyer and Burdi. I think the Twins can improve their bullpen by simply doing nothing more, by resisting the temptation to sign the typical guys they love to sign about this time every year, the Boyers and Cotts types.
  3. Going to the farm to get a vet is probably not as hard as you think. Veterans will sign minor league deals. For example, Kevin Correia and Jared Burton both spent significant time in the minors last season. Remember them?
  4. Also, congratulations to the NCAA line judge blowing that off sides call. Hey buddy, you might have a future officiating in the NFL!
  5. The NCAA should almost draw up scenarios proir to the final weekend of games. It would let bubble teams know what they are playing for. I can see a scenario in the future where a 10 seed beats a 1 seed and the 10 seed thinks it's in, but then turns out not to be. EDIT: seeds, rankings, whatever
  6. You say "plenty" of range, but I would say "occasionally shows some" range. You found a column in Fangraphs to sort that puts Plouffe right behind Arenado. I could probably find something in Fangraphs that shows Plouffe to be a light post, too I see Plouffe somewhere in that vast middle group of average-fielding third baseman. Possibly even in the upper half of that vast middle group. I'm not denying that. But the inclusion of DH's who are forced to play third base, like Pablo Sandoval, actually push Plouffe higher than he really is, I think. Plouffe's bat is about average, but not potentially dynamic like Sano's. It also gets back to how the Twins choose to see themselves going forward, as a perennial 83-79 team* or as something better. *granted last year was a lot of fun and mostly a success
  7. Although that's basically all Plouffe does--fields ground balls hit within arm's reach of where he's positioned. Granted, he does that very well.
  8. I think that's the point spycake is raising. Fien, okay sure. But with all the other guys we have, how many spots does that leave open for a new face?
  9. I agree. Most of these guys at this level played at an up the middle position early in life, including Sano. I guess that doesn't necessarily make them up the middle guys for life. Can we put Sano back at DH?
  10. You are right. It was shortstop. My mistake
  11. A few years ago I watched a peregrine falcon for almost an hour down at the bluffs on the Mississippi River. It was just slowly patrolling up and down the river. Nothing exciting happened but like fishing, that's half the fun.
  12. The Killebrew comparison is the best one I've heard. I truly have nothing against Plouffe. I just want to see Buxton and Sano be the next Puckett and Hrbek playing their natural positions!
  13. I remember madre dos calling him "mischievous" in a thread last summer (or words to that effect). Quite often, those are guys you want. Not to mention Rosario nearly led the majors in outfield assists last season.
  14. Ditto. Which leads to another question. Rhetorical question. Would you rather have a really good original post and then watch the thread turn to trash and then killed instantly with a "Moderator note:", or would you like to see if a thread that starts as a joke or backhand compliment might actually turn into a good discussion. For a moment, I thought the RBI thread was turning into an actual discussion.
  15. Ok I could be on board with this, but the key quote from your link is: Throughout the article, he fails to mention who that "prospect" might be...
  16. That looks like an 0-3
  17. Another misconception: that Mauer must remain at 1B at all costs. Although I tend to think he's entrenched there no matter what. Hopefully he starts hitting again and it doesn't become a question.
  18. You're getting warmer. For some people, it's not just that Sano is going to the outfield, it's the bigger picture. Like that the young guys in this situation (Sano, Arcia) continue to get the short end of the stick in favor of veterans. Or that we are having selective memory about how terrible Plouffe was in the field for so long and maybe Sano can learn 3B quickly. Or that maybe Park turns out to be a better option at 1B than Mauer---I already think Vargas might be. Maybe Mauer should be the DH going forward. I'm not dead set against moving Sano to RF by any stretch, but I am SMH a little.
  19. Yes, and even if a Plouffe trade didn't include a reliever
  20. Plouffe is good, but not good enough to be dictating the playing time of one of the best young prospects in baseball.
  21. Santana led the team in PH appearances last year, so maybe in 2016 he emerges as the primary hitting threat off the bench.
  22. Agree he is, agree he shouldn't get any favors. I don't know if Trump will eventually play it off as a joke or what. We'll see.
  23. I keep thinking the bubble will bust. It doesn't.
  24. All stats and awards aside, this has turned out really well so far. Park got what he wanted, to play in the U.S., and the Twins got a really friendly contract. Essentially 4 years, 24 million total, I bet plenty of other teams in hindsight would have taken that.
  25. Twins exploiting a market inefficiency? I think I need to restart my computer or something and check this again...
