  1. bumping an old thread... Triston McKenzie DFA'd by Cleveland. I don't know what the underlying metrics say, given his significant injuries, but I would absolutely make a minor deal with Cleveland for this guy. Give him a few weeks off -- he's a Florida kid -- then send him to Ft. Myers and ramp him back up.
  2. How about those Detroit Pistons! 15 straight playoff losses and counting!
  3. I don’t mind trying something new with the opener, but if you are just going to pull the primary/starter when they get to the third time through anyway, then I don’t see the advantage. The Twins left the bases loaded that inning, but the Braves left a lot of runs on the field all night long. Not as close as the score. gotta win tomorrow.
  4. Rocco pushed all the right buttons yesterday!! 🙂 Jax is a nice reliever, who had a whale of a season last year. He is not one of the best relievers in baseball, nor does he need to be. Twins Media World sets up unrealistic expectations for some of these guys that they cannot meet.
  5. One bench player? Yikes Even for one game, I really think they should get another player up here and put someone on the IL if needed, either Correa based on recent performance with a chronic issue, or Wallner based on his comments (he said he “felt something pop”? or something like that)
  6. Agree. I respect that not everyone else agrees, but Correa and Buxton just have this heaviness about them that is not good. Hypothetical: if Rocco, Tingler, Buxton, and Correa were off the team tomorrow, somehow, would the team be better, worse, or about the same? Here is what my everyday line up would be: DH Julien 3B Lee SS Lewis (closer to ready than is let on) RF Wallner 1B France C Jeffers LF Larnach 2B Castro CF Bader Obviously there are some issues, namely the shine is off Lewis and Lee somewhat, and a very very thin bench with Keirsey JR and Miranda, but a younger team like this would bring some energy. A new head coach going out, and doing drills with this new set of guys, would do wonders. Obviously we are praying on guys like Rodriguez, Keaschall and Walker Jenkins to mature and contribute soon, as well.
  7. Carlos certainly has the arm to be the cutoff guy and I don't have a problem necessarily with the way the Twins do it as long as it works, but ideally the second baseman should have a strong arm, too. Castro should have wheeled and thrown home. I think the runner would have been out. Instead, we got what we got.
  8. The shortstop should be at second base when the ball is hit to right. What you saw is a result of Carlos Correa constantly covering for Eddie Julien - god bless Eddie - because Julien doesn't have a sense of what to do. So I'm guessing Carlos temporarily forgot that it was Castro playing second base and went out to take the throw from Wallner because he (Correa) knew there would be a play on Alonso at home,. But Castro took the relay throw. No idea what the communication was during the play.
  9. Good question. Here is a very similar one from 2015 that set the firing date to “first half of season” but only looked back 10 years (or you could say it looked back 12 years, since it discusses the 2003 Marlins as the ideal result). How Common Are Early-Season Manager Firings?
  10. They demoted Miranda after the game today, and promoted Lee? Do not approve. The last thing these guys need is to be embarrassed. It feels like most every player on the roster doesn't have his head in the game right now. Their heads are not in it. You can tell by looking at them. I guarantee you there are fielders standing out there forgetting the number of outs, but not getting exposed like Miranda did. Sit Miranda on the bench for a couple games if you need to make a statement. Anyway, the more intelligent transaction would have been to promote Lee before yesterday's game, and let go of Gasper. Which was discussed in last night's game thread. As it happened, Gasper made the final out last night with the tying run on third base. And on it goes with this organization.
  11. The Twins are putting on a show, all right ☹️
  12. To everyone who took the over tonight, you are welcome
  13. Nice trade idea. Do the Twins get Skubal in return? 🙂
  14. Wow, that Aaron Civale- Kyle Manzardo trade Cleveland executed at the deadline in 2023 is beginning to pay dividends. Talk about trading high.
  15. Or maybe we see a good 12-6 curveball tonight
  16. I guess Castro.. But that is biased because i have always seen Julien as a DH/PH only, and a fielder only in emergencies or getaway games (Tom Kelly used to write those day game getaway lineups and that worked for him). I did not realize how thin the roster was until I looked earlier. It looked even thinner without Buxton—welcome back, Buck.
  17. This org seems to think players need a second spring training, or something. Lee played most of the grapefruit season and now has three games under his belt in St. Paul.
  18. wow yeah I am trying to construct a lineup of left handed hitters, and they need to get Brooks Lee active for the Twins tonight immediately. The extra switch hitter will be useful in this series given Detroit has the two good lefties in the pen.
  19. Reese Olson is just ok, not great. Load up the lineup with your lefties and let em rip. Predicting a score like 12-6 tonight.
  20. I feel like they did that recently, I vaguely remember some dustup about who got to start on opening day and it wasn't the acknowledged Ace of the staff (Berrios? Gray? Don't remember) because they wanted to arrange the starters optimally. And that generated some discussion. But now it's back to 1-2-3-4-5, right. I feel like it's easier to juggle guys around the rotation than not, somebody skips a day, add in a bullpen day, and shazam you have a new pitching order. MIght even be wise to look at favorable matchups on the schedule ahead. Just be sure to get buy-in from the pitchers and let them know!
  21. ok Jose Monkey, can you tell me why there is a fancy banner hanging in the background, and people wearing t shirts? That's why I picked Dozier, thinking it might be around the All-Star game in 2014. I ccannot place those banners at any time during the Rooker years!
  22. You are good at this so I hesitate to go against you, but I picked Brian Dozier.
