    Exactly. This is what would be nice to know. Does Molitor know about the bunting probabilities? If not, why not? Has the front office discussed this with him and is Molitor just stubborn? Are the charts wrong, and bunting actually a great thing now, and only Molitor and the front office know this secret?

    My hot take from the game thread: Mauer led off the top of the 8th with a single, and Molitor asked our hottest hitter to sacrifice bunt. From second base, Mauer is not necessarily a safe bet to score on a single to the outfield. Cain led off the bottom of the 8th with a single, and he has been hobbled and not running well. KC saved the out and sent in their pinch runner. Runner later scored from second on a single to the outfield. Also, Grossman sacrificing early in the game like what was said in the OP. Grossman is what 6-13 since his return with an extra base hit in all four of those games. Molitor cannot call on Grossman to sacrifice there. Just can't.

    This kind of gets to what Chief is saying. If you are going to sacrifice Mauer to second, then Mauer shouldn't be the runner on second. He's too slow.
