    It's pretty bleak for Twins in the fantasy rankings. Only Keaschall, Ryan and Buxton stand out.     I don't see a spot for Urshela at all. Wagaman has some experience at 3B - he's your Royce Lewis injury backup.

    Making Kody Clemens a backup is a positive step forward for this team. He SHOULD be a backup. Every season we get spring training articles about how there isn't enough room for everyone and every season 20% of the 40-man roster is injured at any given time and they end up playing some guy they just picked up off waivers (like Kody Clemens).

    Brooks Lee, starting SS, shows they're deeply unserious about improving their defense. Bell is just another data point.

    One injury anywhere except SS or C opens up an everyday spot for Clemens.

    The dumb headline did make me think about what the most important "first half" seasons were in Twins history. Obviously the 15-game win streak in 1991 was important. 1986 was Tom Kelly's debut as Twins manager with the core already in place for a contender. 2002 was really important, coming off the failed contraction attempt. It's hard to top 1961 as an important first half in MN Twins history.

    If Kody Clemens is starting and Bell is the DH, does that mean Larnach is sitting on the bench? I think I'd rather have Clemens on the bench, Larnach at DH and Austin Martin in the outfield.

    Middle relief ceiling for these players with most of them trending toward release by 2028.

    Another reason why relief pitchers shouldn't get selected to All-Star teams. I really have no idea why Johan Santana was snubbed for 3 All-Star games, but those bad decisions seem to be haunting him now.

    Best 3 seasons outside of that 6-year peak Santana 10.7 WAR Koufax 5.0 WAR They're definitely close enough that we shouldn't see one listed in both the "Baseball's 100 Greatest Players" and MLB All-Century teams while the other one can't get 5% on a Hall of Fame ballot.

    It doesn't take much to be an upgrade on Orlando Arcia. He was the worst shortstop in MLB last season. Ryan Kreidler has a career WAR of -0.7.

    There are a couple teams with rookies who could make the roster.

    I think you'll see Martin ahead of Buxton in the order but Martin will bat 9th with Buxton batting 1st. Buxton, Keaschall, Bell, Lewis, Wallner, Jeffers, Larnach, Lee, Martin

    There are other teams who don't have the outfield depth of the Twins. They won't get much but Larnach would make several other teams.

    I don't see how he ramps up enough to get into the rotation by Opening Day. That would put him in AAA again at age 26. I don't know how many healthy innings they will get out of Festa, so it makes little sense to be throwing them in AAA.

    Defense might be what gets Emmanuel Rodriguez onto the roster. He is in basically the same situation Max Kepler was in 2016. If he can play defense like Kepler, then he'll stick around. Rodriguez was better than Outman at AAA last season. There is every reason to believe he's better than Outman right now.

    I have been hoping they dump Larnach and add Emmanuel Rodriguez the entire offseason.

    He's better than all of the other infield options. The Twins should not care in the slightest if Orlando Arcia or James Outman leave the organization. There will be better players on waivers at the end of March. There is a decent chance one of the final spots goes to a waiver claim instead of these options. If it was my decision, the three spots would go to Martin, Roden and whoever I could get out of a different organization to play SS.

    Hall of Fame standards have been "lowered" since the 1940s. Johan Santana is clearly better than some of the players inducted during that decade. It's a weird era for the Hall of Fame. They're actively avoiding the best players of the era (Bonds, Clemens, Rodriguez) because they used steroids to extend their careers. However, they still want to have inductions so they're leapfrogging over the best to induct players like Harold Baines, Billy Wagner, Tony Oliva and Jim Kaat.

    I would induct all of those guys except Wilbur Wood. Add in Saberhagen too.

    Absolutely ridiculous that Billy Wagner is inducted and Johan Santana can’t get 5% of the vote. Santana is clearly the superior pitcher.

    That article presents no data to back up it's claims. It's not a convincing article. There have always been late bloomers, but the odds are still better for prospects who get to the majors young. The other problem is it does the Minnesota Twins no good at all if Emmanuel Rodgriguez becomes a good player at age 27. They need him to produce before he's out of options or he'll get designated for assignment over all of major league baseball.

    The Twins wasted an opportunity to let him debut last September and wasted their time with Outman instead.

    I think Morris would be just as up-and-down as a reliever as he currently is as a starter. He seems like a 5th starter / middle reliever and those guys are needed over the course of the season.
