    Don’t lump Jackson in with Caratini. Jackson has a pop time of 1.8 seconds (very good) versus 2.06 for Caratini (nearly the worst in MLB).

    Every single contending team can fit Jeffers into their roster. Demand will be high and supply is quite low. Someone will bet on Jeffers hitting bombs for their team in October.

    I think Jeffers could get 4 years, $50M as a free agent, but $3-5M less if he has a QO attached. $23M up front and a chance to go back on the market is going to be easy to accept. I don’t know why people would assume a salary cap and floor would increase free agent spending. The level of total spend proposed by MLB is lower than the current overall spend. We will see the teams above the cap scrambling to dump contracts on the teams below the minimum. That will swallow up nearly all of the available dollars. The lockout will keep teams from spending until the last minute. Next season could be the worst year ever for MLB free agents.

    $1 in 1965 has the same buying power as $11 today. I am pretty sure you can get a bleacher seat for most games for $11. They ran a 4 tickets for $25 deal recently. If you go on dollar dog night the hot dogs and the tickets are cheaper now than in 1965.

    I don’t think I have ever paid $70 for a Twins ticket.

    They haven’t called up Culpepper because the platoon of Gray and Kreidler has been productive. I don’t expect it to last, but they combined for average SS production in May.

    His batting average has stabilized right at his xBA. Martin doesn’t chase, he squares up pitches, doesn’t strike out often. He has enough speed to steal a base. He also has low exit velocity and little power. His outfield defense has finally matched up with his athletic ability. He is an excellent 4th outfielder who has been pushed into a starting role due to injury and ineffectiveness of the other outfielders on the roster.

    This article said the problem was he wasn’t doing damage on fastballs. If he’s fixed that, he’s playable in a major league lineup.

    Lewis needs to come up and play 1B. Even without any reps I think he would do better than Josh Bell. I also want to get rid of the bad 5th outfielder “role”.

    Derek Shelton has squeezed more performance out of this bullpen than anyone would have expected.

    I remember when they traded Johan Santana because they couldn’t afford an extension. In hindsight they should have kept him until free agency and grabbed the compensation picks.

    I can see an argument to keep him one more season and go for it in a shortened 2027 with Pablo Lopez returning. This team isn’t good enough, but it’s not that far off. Trade Jeffers, Larnach and Ober but keep Ryan and spend a little money to see if you can take this incredibly weak division in 2027.

    I’m not sure if Mendez will have a better career than Roden. There is a big gap in their value on defense.

    Bradley, Abel, Rojas, Tait are all more valuable than Mendez.

    He is currently one of the top 5 catchers in baseball. I expect a bidding war for him at the deadline. Every contender could use him.

    I would trade Jeffers to the Pirates but I want more than a good reliever / 5th starter in return for an All-Star caliber catcher.

    Ober for Mlodzinski - is that enough? Jeffers would be a great addition to the Pirates if they want to swing a big deal.
