  1. Niko Goodrum, Aaron Slegers. Someone with a shot but not likely to contribute. They can probably get a C+ prospect for Willingham (Travis Harrison, Zach Jones)
  2. They burned his option year when he was added to the roster to keep him out of the Rule 5 draft.
  3. Polanco should return to AA when Mauer comes back.
  4. Why would the Twins have any issues with a player who is taking pitches the other way?
  5. Thanks for bringing up the payroll room. The Twins have over $20M coming off the books and are currently underspending compared to revenues. They can add some free agents this offseason as well as mixing in the younger players.
  6. There might be a ripple of moves coming Hicks->AAA Buxton->AA Kanzler -> A+ Murphy->Cedar Rapids
  7. Stole my pick. If they pick someone on the current payroll then Steinbach is my choice too. I also like the Mike Redmond idea.
  8. I think it is a fair conclusion to draw that the Twins qualify for revenue sharing again. They are not guaranteed a pick. 6 teams get a 1st rounder, 6 get a 2nd rounder and there are 15 teams. Which teams aren't eligible? NYY, NYM, CHW, CHC, LAA, LAD, BOS, WAS, TEX, HOU, ATL, SFG, PHI, DET, TOR The Twins seem to fit better with Colorado, Seattle, Baltimore and St. Louis than they do with the other group.
  9. There are also the marginal LH SP prospects like Taylor Rogers, Sean Gilmartin and Logan Darnell.
  10. If they trade Suzuki to the Cardinals or Orioles he will be available this offseason. Neither one will be offering him an extension.
  11. Jeter isn't even the best SS of the past 30 years. Ripken is so much better defensively. The Hall of Merit ranked SS and it was Wagner, John Henry Lloyd and Cal Ripken as the top 3. http://www.baseballthinkfactory.org/hall_of_merit/discussion/election_results_wagnerlloyd_ripken_vaughan_davis_dahlen_and_yount_get_at_l Jeter makes the top 10.
  12. Denard Span would be a pretty nice stopgap if he doesn't have his option picked up by Washington.
  13. Predicting AAAA for Vargas is pretty safe. His glove is poor and it is really hard to stick in the big leagues solely as a DH. He might be one who beats the odds but Ortiz was in AA two years earlier than Vargas. Daryle Ward is a lot more likely.
  14. I am pretty sure he resumed switch hitting. That would explain the bounceback in his numbers.
  15. What is remarkable is the Yankees had an MRI done before the season and it was clean. The UCL tear is solely due to what Tanaka has done as a Yankee. Is there something particular to MLB training that is causing UCL tears to happen more often?
  16. Looks like he's treading water. These numbers look like his production in New Britain in 2012.
  17. If you want Gardenhire fired, you'd better not replace him with Tito Francona "Masty's first inclination was wanting to pitch through it, which we respect," Francona said. "The way it was going, though, we thought we'd DL him and get him some treatment."
  18. I want Meyer up in September but I'm fine with it being in the bullpen to limit his innings.
  19. Herrmann is the right choice until Danny Santana is healthy. They need to make a trade.
  20. Since Suzuki at 2 years $15M is probably NOT a good deal for the Twins they should be looking at their trade options. Maybe some team will give up their 'Wilson Ramos' at the deadline.
  21. Gonsalves has been pitching for months in EST. Who knows what is going on. Without context I'm mostly lost. As an aside I'm really glad I didn't have dozens of people scrutinizing my first week on the job.
  22. Suzuki might be able to score $7M this offseason as the top FA option at catcher. If he'll take a $4M extension now the Twins would be foolish not to extend him.
  23. Suzuki isn't signed for 2015. Unless you think the Twins should give him a qualifying offer of $15M they HAVE to consider trading him.
  24. I think the Twins view Hamburger as an "organizational" player and they'll send him wherever he's needed. I agree that Oliveros has earned his promotion to AAA.
