  1. Pretty simple from my point of view Arcia for Herrmann Willingham for Colabello Fuld for Santana
  2. Risers? I guess, but these guys were all pretty high on the list to start with. How about this list: Mitch Garver Levi Michael Kennys Vargas Aaron Slegers Logan Darnell Alex Wimmers
  3. Hicks' platoon splits as a LH batter are far worse than would be expected from a RH batter facing RH pitchers. That's why people think he should give it up.
  4. Phil Hughes looks like an example in the "Anderson is a good pitching coach" category. At least he's better than the Yankee pitching coach.
  5. The only reason the Twins would offer a contract buying out arbitration is to get a relatively cheap option year when Dozier is 32. That discussion can wait until the offseason.
  6. Hicks just got a week off and no rehab because they were shorthanded. Give him a couple games to knock off the rust.
  7. Thanks for this bit of perspective. The Twins are doing the right thing keeping him in EST. Imagine trying to finish high school while traveling all over the midwest living out of a suitcase.
  8. I think the other half of why they want versatility is the short benches in the major leagues. It's a lot easier to carry 13 pitchers when your three bench players cover 4 positions each.
  9. I'd say Santana has the tools to be a good #9 hitter. He's never going to have a .400 OBP but he could produce just enough with the bat and have some speed. I agree he belongs in AAA and Escobar needs to be the starting SS. Nunez grades out worse at SS than Dozier or Plouffe.
  10. How much of this is having to play every day? He's a platoon DH (with Colabello ideally) being forced into everyday action.
  11. Are you comparing the Twins brain trust to a clown car?
  12. Four shortstops, three catchers and your "outfielders" are Kubel and Colabello even when Mauer returns. Combine that with a pitching staff that doesn't strike anyone out and 8 relievers. Ugh.
  13. That is a terrible plan. Kenny Wilson would make Florimon's bat look good. Pinto is a much better player than Fryer. Calling up Vargas AND Parmelee is adding two players with the same skill set.
  14. I hope the Indiana coach learned a lesson. You don't "punish" a player by forcing them to injure themselves.
  15. I can buy 6 tickets for the family for 6 Twins games for $400. ASG tickets aren't happening. We'll go see Trout when he comes in September instead.
  16. It is hard to frame Nolasco's pitches if he can't hit the mitt.
  17. The problem is having Arcia, Kubel and Parmelee is having 3 of the same baseball player. Kubel is a better hitter right now and Arcia probably is as well. Fuld is supposed to be the LH hitting 4th OF which means they aren't bringing Parmelee up to play defense. The only way to make room for Parmelee is to trade Kubel.
  18. That would be awful. A pitcher (who hits about as well as Chris Herrmann) would have to bat! They'd better call up a couple more pitchers just in case.
  19. Nolasco can't hit his spots. It makes sense that he falls back to fastball when he can't control his breaking pitches.
  20. I don't think service time is as big of a deal as unnecessarily burning an option. The Twins will want to have 3 options left after this season if possible. That means a late callup and September shutdown while in the majors.
  21. Dude. Mike Lynn. Plus, I think the Wolves have the top 4 on the list.
  22. This wouldn't be the first pitcher who came back too soon from TJ surgery and had a dead arm or injured his shoulder overcompensating.
  23. Clearly Polanco is a better prospect but Michael is succeeding at a level that we haven't seen previously. I just think our perception might have been different if Michael had spent 2012 in Elizabethton and 2013 in Cedar Rapids.
  24. I agree. Hicks has had a performance at the low-end of "tolerable" but he usually starts slow and there is reason to expect improvement. Florimon has a negative OPS+. There is also a reasonable replacement for Florimon on the 25 man roster. There isn't a replacement for Hicks who is above A-ball.
