    I would not be shocked to see Thielbar come back to the Twins on a minor league deal.

    Julien rates 1% below average and Martin rates 3% below average (in a smaller sample size). They're both below average at 2B but Martin has graded out worse than Julien.

    Julien needs to be a little less aggressive. A 33% chase rate is too high for him. He was too passive before, so this is part of learning the MLB strike zone.

    His statcast page lays it all out. 75th percentile speed, 4th percentile outfield range. His initial jump is terrible. He's making 83% of the plays when the expectation is 88%. Austin Martin Stats: Statcast, Visuals & Advanced Metrics | baseballsavant.com (mlb.com) He covers 2 feet less than an average CF. That may not sound like much but remember it's the radius of a circle. 32 feet vs 34 feet is a difference of 414 square feet of outfield that Martin can't cover. Buxton's coverage is 35.5 feet which means he covers 740 more square feet of outfield than Austin Martin.

    Martin's defense is definitely not "solid". RField of -13 in about half a season of MLB games is terrible.

    That can be fixed. Sounds like the problem is pitch selection, not mechanics.

    Hitting is hard, switch hitting is harder. It should be expected that Brooks Lee will take some time to figure out big league pitchers. Right now he's switch hitting and covering 3 different infield positions. That spreads his practice time pretty thin.

    On the radio broadcast they mentioned that Zebby's movement pitches and his fastball all break away from RHB. He doesn't have much he can use on the inner half of the plate.

    Keirsey might hang around until Kepler returns. The obvious demotion for Correa is Brooks Lee. The next obvious is Julien but he's been playing okay (650 OPS) in the last month. It's also possible someone else could use some time on the injured list.

    Magic 8 ball says "Ask Again Later". Both are doing well but AAA talent is depleted due to callups and injuries in September. Fortunately, the Twins don't have to make decisions about adding either to the roster until 2026 for McCusker and 2027 for Eeles.

    Even if they only have a 30% chance of winning an individual game it's only 50/50 that they're 0-2.

    Making a playoff pitching staff is an interesting task. Starters: Lopez, Ober, Woods-Richardson Relievers: Duran, Jax, Sands, Alcala, Thielbar That leaves 5 spots and you get to choose from Festa, Mathews, Tonkin, Varland, Henriquez, Blewett, Paddack (?), Funderburk (?). I would eliminate Blewett, take Paddack if he's healthy. The rest is an open competition. It might be Varland, Festa, Tonkin and Henriquez.

    Brooks Lee has exceeded rookie eligibility. He's not a prospect anymore.

    Depends on how many outs there are in the inning. I don't like when they make the first out at home on a 50% chance send. With two outs that's a good call.

    The walks and the drop in velocity are concerning. Pitching while fatigued can lead to injury due to breakdown in mechanics.

    I don't think Rocco is extreme to that end. I hear quotes all the time about how the coaches are working with players on hitting, pitching, etc. They're working while they're at the ballpark. I wonder if they're always working on the right things. The prep work ahead of games is an area where I think Rocco does fine although the players may be spread too thin preparing to play multiple positions. There is only so much time in the day. You can't prep to play every position on the field. I really hope they don't fire Rocco and promote Toby Gardenhire. The rookies have not been prepared to succeed in the field. That preparation should be happening in the minor leagues so they're ready for game situations when they get to the majors.

    If you can reliably predict which players will get injured and which players will stay healthy you could make a lot of money as an MLB general manager.

    Billy Martin would lose a modern clubhouse in less than an hour.
