  1. Let's hope the pitching geniuses can work with this guy!
  2. I think about this comparison quite a bit. We are not a "small market" team...
  3. This is entirely correct.
  4. Let's dream on this! Put it together and take the division.
  5. What is the revenue money for if it is not for signing people to play for the team?
  6. This article gives me PTSD, just reading the names of those pitchers... [shivers]
  7. Well that was an epic ending...
  8. Conclusion: he is not entirely terrible.
  9. "In fairness, the Twins aren't committed to Cron – they could cut him before the end of spring training at a negligible cost – but I suspect they wouldn't make this claim if they didn't (at least presently) intend to keep him." This is a crucial point from the article. Next week, the Front Office might waive him. We don't know... They are just stockpiling options, IMO. Let's wait to pull our hair out until he makes the Opening Day roster.
  10. Well, it can't hurt I guess.
  11. Let's all remember that the people who actually *play* baseball are very young, and getting younger all the time. Mauer just retired at the age of 35. Twenty-something world-class athletes have very different attitudes about the history of baseball than crusty fans.
  12. I've not been to the DR but have friends who have spent a lot of time there. It's very different from Minnesota, and paying off people or extorting them is a thing. We can only imagine how famous Sano might be in his impoverished hometown. Watching the Pelotero film, you begin to get a sense of that...
  13. His platoon splits are pretty balanced.
  14. IMO almost nobody goes to a game to see a particular starting pitcher, unless it's someone who has just won a Cy Young or is on a crazy streak or something. Given the way that pitching is evolving to be such an irregular cluster, the opener seems worth a try. Probably takes some getting used to for somoene like May
  15. so it did not go well is what you are saying
