  1. That mouthing gesture of Correia translates to "What the &$@€! You mean he's allowed to swing that bat?"
  2. Good insight JB and Bernardino. Thanks
  3. Escobar limped away from home. The way this season has gone, he might as well be on the 60 day DL
  4. Was Gardy quoted as calling Hicks lazy?
  5. Escobar has continued to play well hitting and fielding
  6. I found it http://minnesota.twins.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140514&content_id=75482254&vkey=pr_min&c_id=min
  7. Agreed, he's hit well enough (AAA and bigs) that they would lose him, we're get DFA'd
  8. And both went Ohfer last night
  9. He's hitting way better than Hicks, and he's been almost as good if not as good as Hicks in CF. That's more of an indictment of Hicks, but Santana has earned it too. As RiverBrian said, if you're making a super utility guy, commit. When Full/Arcia come back, send Hicks to AAA to learn to be a 4th outfielder without the pressure or pitching of the bigs.
  10. 2b Dozier DH Suzuki 1b Mauer C Pinto 3b Plouffe LF Kubel RF Parmelee SS Escobar CF Santana
  11. Well written Parker! My only argument is keeping Bartlett made an already bad situation worse. Keeping Mastro or Presley would have mitigated the pain of watching IF play OF, and the hitting would be about the same, poor.
  12. I'm with you, he gets paid a lot, and has many people and dollars at his disposal. Prepare for the obvious. Just like the injuries themselves, can he do anything about them? No... Can he plan for them to happen? Yes. Has he? Not for outfielder injuries, or CF/SS disastrous incompetence. However he has planned for catching and relief pitching catastrophe.
  13. 3 for 4 with the walk off. Not a bad game
  14. You know your off when Cola is PH for you
  15. I would rather have Santana play than not, so if this is how it has to happen so be it. Has Gardy finally had enough of Hicks?
  16. I haven't been able to watch, how is Santana fielding Center Field?
  17. I disagree! This is ridiculous! I'm screwed aren't I?
  18. With the OF roster as it is (both MLB and AAA) how long 'till he gets promoted?
  19. It depends... If you're still under rookie contract, you're Dallas Kuechel you stand to make $500,000 per year. If you're a free agent, you're Ricky Nolasco you stand to make $12,000,000 per year. Both had xFIP in 2013 of 3.58 Theres a reason why GMs prefer to build from within, and players choose free agency.
  20. 1) agreed Hicks should be in AAA to make room for FA Derrick Robinson http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=2784&position=OF I'm aware he's nothing special, but he's out there and would provide cheap temporary depth while the rest of the outfield gets their poop in a group. It would be very painless to DFA him when one of the other slightly more valuable outfielders is ready to come back. If he sucks, well he's no worse than Hicks and you aren't damaging his career. 2) Agreed, he should be DFA'd to make room for Arcia 3) Agreed, he looks lost and has options to make room for Willingham' as well as currently being outperformed by Parmelee. 4) Not yet, he's pitched better lately and might be of trade value. However, Meyer is going to need a roster spot soon. 5) Agreed, Burton is very replaceable, several younger arms available who could use some MLB time.
  21. Parmelee is a better fielder and has been a better hitter in the month of May. Considering Cola has options and Parmelee does not, the choice seems pretty easy. Agreed, Nunez needs to stay up. Hicks on the other hand doesn't appear to be ready for the bigs and needs some AAA time. Unfortunately that leaves Fuld to man CF and no 4th outfielder, so it won't/shouldn't happen without a trade or FA.
  22. Well said Seth. I think there may be something to the notion of improved diagnosis techniques and improved success of the surgery. There's more TJ surgeries in part because the medical staffs at all levels of baseball diagnose the issue better, are more willing to prescribe the surgery, and those that opt to have it done are more successful afterward than ever before. I wonder how many players in the past played until they couldn't, and retired early.
