  1. Hicks is currently the best option for CF, but man he needs to go to AAA. How do pro scouts miss this badly?
  2. Torii would have been out by 3 or 4 steps if Santana had made the correct throw, and the inning over. That being said, I'm happy Santana is starting at SS.
  3. So there were bad attitudes a month into the season in the bullpen? The only solution is to bring up Matt Guerrier. If you can pick up Mastro 20 times per season, why is there still only 1 CF on the active 40 man roster? 20 times is roughly weekly, the Twins should have 2 Mastros by now.
  4. Encouraging to his output this season, a week ago his BA was .205. Well written and I too am excited about Mr. Pinto.
  5. Parmellee is up. I am very happy about this, as I think he has earned it. I hope he earns a permanent roster spot barring injury. What do you do when health comes back to Fuld, Arcia and Willingham? What do you think the Twins do? I like the Parmellee/Kubel Hicks Arcia outfield with Fuld as the 4th and Kubel/Pinto DH the best of the options currently available. This would mean finding a trade partner, or 60 day DL/Release of Willingham and reducing a pitcher (preferably release Guerrier, I don't care how well he pitches) and sending Santana back to AAA. I think Rob Antony with DFA Parms when push comes to shove. I don't think the Twins value Parmellee as much as I do.
  6. i demand that there are many players (throughout the season) with the big league club who are a bit premature. At the very least getting the September call up. All of the depth at outfield is prospects, and none of them are a lock, including Buxton. While Buxton is as close to a sure thing as you can be as a prospect, we have all seen what can happen over the course of a season or two, to count you chickens before they are hatched.
  7. its more likely Mauer goes to the outfield than Plouffe. It's well documented catchers make the best right fielders.
  8. Well written with great illustration. Thanks Parker. I think Plouffe will adjust as well. He has shown the ability to adjust in the past, and the season is still young.
  9. Very good point, I could not agree more. This to me points more at the Pohlads and their ability to succession plan. TR shouldn't be hiring his replacement, Jim Pohlad does that, and maybe did.
  10. I guess I would have waited for Fuld to come back before DFAing Wilson. I don't think he had any business on the 25, but as we all know emergencies happen. There are several other players on the 40 who also have no business on the 25 who are in positions that aren't so critically thin, such as relief pitcher, who could have made room for Parms. i do agree, Wilson needed to be DFA'd. The timing is just odd.
  11. Ryan is receiving cancer treatment and I'm sure has some pretty big fish to fry. I'm willing to cut TR some slack for decisions made while he is out, even if he was a part of making them. We don't know TR's involvement, but I'm sure it's not a large amount. Rob Antony on the other hand was at the helm for final roster cuts, and is currently "managing" the 40 man roster. As such, I choose to rail on Antony. If you want to call TR on not signing a CF in the offseason, even if he had done so, that wouldn't stop Antony from DFAing him. Just ask Wilson about it. Edit: Also, Gardy is not the GM, he's the bench manager. We can debate on whether or not he should be in a different thread. Gardy should not be making the 40/25 man roster moves and TR apparently did not let him, to the same extent RA appears to.
  12. It makes him a lot closer than Escobar or Bartlett
  13. That would require Twins pitching to him, not on the same team
  14. I'm baffled too, Hicks is a sneeze away from not remembering his name anymore and they thin the CF depth further. I hope someone claims him just to make a point.
  15. Last I saw there were 4 players with professional experience at SS on the 40 man and only 2 at CF. "P-Flawed" had no business as the starter, but at least there are reserves who have upside. My issues with the two positions are very different.
  16. I'm with Jokin, I think Escobar has supplanted Florimon and Nunez, if healthy, has taken over utility and PH.
  17. My concern is more addressing the rookies issues with the media. A business manager is trained to Praise in Public, Punish in Private. This doesn't really work for the established pros, but a necessity for the rookies. The rookies have bigger things to work on than dealing with the media.
  18. You are right. He's not ready to be up, but he was moved out of necessity. Since he's up, and hasn't failed yet. He's a valuable prospect and needs to play, and I would like to see him play every day at MLB SS until he falters, then give him the laundry list things to work on in AAA. Hopefully when he goes down to AAA, he's hungry to come back to the bigs and forces the issue quickly.
  19. I agree that it looks like Gardy has an inordinate amount of sway, there are decisions made that don't follow what I imagine Gardy to want. Why would Gardy rather have only one CF on the 25 and only two on the 40 and the one in AAA is out of options? Guerrier is 100% a Gardy move, I have no doubt, Gardy loves his established vets' even if they are washed up old has-beens. But the 40 man especially the outfield doesn't follow in my mind. I also wrote about the similarities of Antony to Smith. It feels very much the same, just as short sited, only much cheaper and less effective FAs.
  20. I struggle with the 40 man composition. No injuries are not the fault of the GM or assistant GM, but the only guy they can bring up for RF is a catcher? It's the same problem as CF. Kubel turned out to be a very good sign, but no CF in AAA on the 40 is inexcusable. When the depth is this thin, how can you wait and see with Mauer?
