    Agreed, doubt they spend that kind of dough. I bet they spend less than 100m in total for two pitchers (a 4-5 year deal plus a 1 year). That might buy you Bauer or Strohman plus Happ. If a fielder is signed, it’ll be shortstop for less than 10m

    My guess for opening day 1) outside org via free agent (4-5 years) 2) Ober 3) Pineda (re-signed similar 2 year incentive-laden deal) 4) Ryan 5) outside the org (washed up free agent) reserves Dobnak, Jax, Duran, Thorpe not exactly exciting, but hopefully better than 2021!

    One of my favorite kid books, and one that has a lesson to be learned for all of us. the root cause of Alexander’s bad day was Alexander’s bad attitude. I don’t think that is quite applicable to Dobby at this moment. Fortunately Dobnak’s contract is one that allows the Twins to find out what the root cause is, but not so substantial that they can’t cut bait if they can’t figure it out.

    I think the FO misjudged their reinforcement timelines. I assume the FO was planning on either Duran or Balazovic (or both) being ready for the bigs by mid-season or the end at worst. If you don’t want to clog your rotation with multi year deals, you sign short term contracts. In which case, take the best of the worst. Now with Berrios traded away, they almost have to make a big trade or sign a long term contract for a free agent.
