    My outlook on the season has improved and I think if Joe Ryan and Bailey Ober can manage their innings and continue to perform strong while Bundy and Archer not crap on the pitching mound and the next wave of reinforcements like Winder graduate they could definitely outperform my expectations I am more optimistic today than I was 2 weeks ago

    Rooker or Kiriloff will be the primary LF Sano or Kiriloff will be primary 1B Sanchez has played 1B Twice as a major leaguer, I doubt very much he will be in the mix at 1B, and Kiriloff can’t be in two places at once. I predict a lot of yelling at the Radio in your house.

    Larnach specifically, I agree, he’s not up because he hasn’t done enough with the bat to take the LF job or be in the rotation for DH. He could very well do that in the first half of the year and be a part of the second half of the MLB season.

    Agreed, DH won’t be as static as it used to be. maybe a better way to phrase my question: is Sanchez more of an emergency catcher?

    If Kirillof is the starting LF and Sano is the 1B, then Sanchez is the defacto DH?

    1) Urshela and Arraez in aggregate seem to be very similar hitters. It should be a very open competition on who starts at 3B. 2) I’d be very OK if Sanchez never actually played C and they carried 2 catchers (Godoy and Jeffers) but feel like Godoy will start in StP so they can carry more relievers and just like 5th starter, won’t play Sanchez at C very much to start the season. 3) Larnach needs to earn his way into playing time. He needs to hit before worrying about a platoon advantage 4) yes

    Welcome to TD! Great first post! I agree that Miranda would be a good fit, but he’s also a need for the Twins as early as later this year. That is my assumption why that deal hasn’t been done already. To clarify, do you believe Manea will be traded prior to opening day?

    This has been shared in the past, but it seems like the time is right to dust it off again.     He already did clear waivers, that’s what “outrighted” means. He cleared outright assignment waivers and stayed with the team

    Agreed, if the FO can swing a trade for a #1 or 2 type starter, that doesn’t break the prospect bank, they should pull the trigger. that outcome looks less likely by the day. It’s hard to pull off that trade. more likely, as has been tip-toed around, is “Sign Cueto” or “roll with Winder and put the youth through the meat grinder”. like others here, I’d rather watch a youth movement than watch Eddie Harris wipe bodily fluids on the ball and pray

    During the lockout, assuming little to no ST (and actually getting an abbreviated ST) a couple weeks ago it wouldn’t have surprised me to see Lewis get a couple week tune up in Cedar Rapids. Lewis seems, to be locked in, and in no need for the “ST extension” and should slot in well at Wichita or St Paul. Looking forward to a strong season from him! of course depending on how his season goes, could he get a call up this year?

    Agreed, I think the Twins were a target. Beyond need at SS, there was a reason. It might not be the reasons stated, but this was no “accident”

    I think Boras reaching out to the Twins with the concept/framework makes sense. Including a team that would not risk a 10 year mega deal almost guarantees that Correa will be the center of a bidding war next offseason and reduces the risk to Correa on a true one year deal. It’s almost a can’t lose situation, and a whole lot of dough in Boras’ pocket in ‘23.

    Buxton played 61 games in ‘21. Kepler played only 22 games in CF with 101 opportunities that’s 22% of the reserve CF going to Kepler. I can’t imagine he’ll have a significantly larger share in ‘22. I assume Gordon is first in line to spell Buxton and Celestino gets the call if Buxton goes on the IL.
