    He was cleaning up post hurricane in his neighborhood in Florida when he was fired (not a good look by this FO) shortly after the 2017. Rocco was hired after the 2018 season. Your recollection might be more to do with supporting a man who was in a bad spot at the time, not an endorsement for Mientkewics to replace a sitting manager in Paul Molitor who just won manager of the year. Doug Mientkewics has nothing to do with Rocco Baldelli, and nothing to with the current situation.

    I don’t know which is right, but I guarantee that one of the facets in the decision is managing Ryan’s work load so he’s available in September. he only pitched 100 innings last year (plus Olympics but I’m sure that wasn’t more than 20 innings) he might get 120 to 130 innings this year. I am certain they will shut him down well before 150 innings. Outside of 2 Duffey blow ups, the bullpen has pitched well. I’d rather see Ryan pitching in September than some quad A scrap heap pickup. Let the expanded bullpen carry more of the load for now.

    Because Gordon is a Lefty, and the Twins have faced a lot of Lefty pitchers lately. Garlick as a Righty can only do one thing, mash lefties

But these three games sure do feel like they carry an added level of weight, especially when you consider the stakes outside of all this chaos.” I dunno @Nick Nelson, if the Twins go the entire month of April without a series win, post season aspirations get pretty difficult. There’s only two full series left.

    Joe Ryan’s average change up is 82, Radke’s fastball was 85. Ryan throws a lot harder

    Gordon started in Center over Celestino quite a bit. I don’t think Gordon’s impact is lost on Rocco. Gordon has been the best of the worst for this team. I don’t want to take anything away from him, but I’d love to see the FO find an improvement upon him.

    In a 1 run game they NEEDED to win, I can rationalize using your best relievers, but yeah, they need to piggyback Archer and Paddack with Winder and Smeltzer on a schedule. Those two look nowhere near stretched out, and have one of Pagan, Smith, and Duran available for leverage most nights, avoiding the three of them on the same game.

    I like Dick more now that Bert is retired too, but it was such a breath of fresh air when Marney called play by play in the spring games. She really needs to take over. It's not that I don't appreciate Dick Bremer, he's a very good play by play guy, it's just time.

    And I think In 10 days the waiver wire will be awash with potential upgrades that could be claimed and also increase the likelihood of a DFA’d asset making it through waivers and being reassigned to AAA

    Agreed, mostly. I’d keep Lewis strictly at Short, Correa could be hurt (why else would he be sooooo off) and have Lewis be ready as if Correa picks back up again, he’ll be traded or opt out at end of season. Miranda to play LF and 3rd makes sense to me. He’s cooled off a bit, but he’s clearly not a SS where Lewis could still be. If Miranda gets hot again, he’s my pick for promotion to Twins LF

    I think this is a very good point, and part of why the lineup changes so drastically when a lefty starts, and then the chess match in the mid innings of righty/lefty bullpen usage. outside of Arraez there is not a ton of contact being made, Arraez doesn’t hit Lefties well, and the team is very LH heavy. They’ve also faced Lefties frequently thus far. over the course of the season the Lefties frequency should normalize and the ball should carry better in the heat of summer, but contact rate could/should persist unless the FO can find a couple hitters. Additionally, I think the short spring roster construction to pad the bullpen helps the pitching end of the lefty/righty matchups and hurts the bench strength. Who are they going to promote? Move Miranda to LF or RF I suppose, but he’s not exactly crushing it.
