    thanks John. Appreciate the transparency. I kind of agree with the stance you took. I wouldn't have made the move Pohlad did, in that I wouldn't have told Ryan he was fired until the end of the season. I would have waited until the last day of the season to do anything, then I would have given him a chance to retire or be fired on the spot.

    I keep waiting for Joe to come up injured with some hard to detect injury (related to concussion or not) that puts him on the DL and after 6 weeks requires some kind of invasive treatment or surgery that sidelined him for the rest of the year

    if Dozier is so good, why des this team suck so bad? With Dozier, Escobar, and Sano on this infield Polanco would not play more than once a week until injury, and therefore would not progress, and Dozier will most certainly regress before his contract expires.

    dsan is terrible fielding at every position and can't hit consistently. Arcia is the same except he could at least provide a home run. With Buxton, Kepler, Grossman, Nunez, Escobar, Dozier, at the positions DSan plays, the team needs a bench bat for the outfield and a defensive specialist/Pinch runner in the infield. Arcia could be the bench bat, I don't know what Santana offers, but at least Beresford fields in the infield well.

    According to Wikipedia Ichiro's father's name is Nobuyuki Suzuki (鈴木宣之) which would lead me to believe both are Americanized, and Ichiro would be his given and Suzuki would be his Surname. I would still put Suzuki on his Jersey but by tradition, I would imagine Suzuki would also be what one would call him. So Suzuki Ichiro would be the grammatically correct way to write it. However, the guy seems to want to be called Ichiro. Who am I to judge?

    im with you on the statistical analysis part. What I want most in a leader is someone to lead, who values statistical analysis, understands it, and hires a good team to run it and influence/drive philosophies centered around the team core talent management strategy. Bench coach and someone in the AGM level of role should be the stat head team leaders. GM and Manager need to be the ultimate of people/player managers.

    i think part of Seths premise is with sending the players down for a couple months to AAA (a development league) is that they go with assignments and use that time to hone some skills while TR jettisons the old fogeys. the challenge I have, is how much do you gain in 6 weeks of development league as a player. And how much trade value does a mediocre veteran gain by playing more? i very much agree with the outcome and I'd be tempted to send Sano down to play 3rd at Rochester every day until Plouffe is traded (hopefully about 10 days).

    I worry that a trade that would land Trout would put the Twins in the same situation as the Angels are in currently. The Twins need to improve in a lot of ways including outfield, but more importantly they need to improve their pitching. If I were GM any big trades that I would target would center around pitching.

    it depends on what you think the cause and solution are the problem... But lots of them. I'm not saying it's the right thing, I'm saying it's the most likely scenario that Pohlad repeats everything he's done in the past because that's what his dad did too. He obviously doesn't doubt his ability to identify and hire the best talent, so why would he change course now? The goal isn't to win world series' it's to make money that has been very successful under Ryan

    its not about making the hire that you want. It's about the hire that Pohlad wants. The MO for the entire Twins organization since the Pohlads purchased it has been the comfortable hire. Almost every single notable hire has been of a person who in some way worked themselves up from a lower rung in the organization. Lots of companies work this way Other than Neil Allen, I can't think of another outsider who's been hired to the FO or coaching staff. And NA hasn't exactly looked stellar so far
