  1. What? Screw you guy! Just kidding. Unfortunately I was pretty lazy in English class. I only wrote one paper throughout high school and one in college before dropping out. Reading a lot just doesn't seem to improve grammar since all the work has been done already. Does "I'd've" work?
  2. I would be looking to contend in 2018 if I was the Twin's. What we'll need by then is top of the rotation pitcher. There should be a few available in free agency that year. So they need to move the players who will be eating up the payroll. Santana, Plouffe, Dozier, and Mauer (if he wants to be traded). Picking up some prospects would be nice, but it's a secondary concern to me.
  3. Can't ask for much more than that. Bonus points for dominating the Yankees
  4. Duffey's pretty mad about you guys jinxing him
  5. Molitor has been trying to win games? Could of fooled me
  6. I'd of liked to see him get some more at bats, but the Sano to right field move made that pretty tough. Would it of worked out differently if he had more playing time? Probably not. I would of been more comfortable with the result though.
  7. Fire Sale! All veterans must go! No reasonable offers refused. You want mediocre players? We got'em. Come down today to beat the rush.
  8. Are they going to play this thing? This game looks like it could solve the age old question of who wins, the easily stoppable force vs. the effortlessly movable object. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2016_06_22_phimlb_minmlb_1#game=2016_06_22_phimlb_minmlb_1,game_state=Pregame
  9. I've read a few articles about J.J. Schwarz. Looks like the real deal to me. He's the reason I root for the Brave's to win now days.
  10. You really have to go with Kershaw and his god like numbers. One thing I always wonder though is how big a difference pitching in the NL and a pitcher friendly ball park makes. It's really an ideal situation for a a pitcher. Even Nolasco looked ok for the Dodgers.
  11. 5 wild cards. Dump as much salary as you can and pay off these bad contracts. Hopefully we can get a few prospects in return. If things break right the Twins would be able to bring in a top of the rotation arm in 2018 to go along with a good young team.
  12. Wow. He only had about 100 at bats this year. You'd think a team this bad could of found more playing time for him to see what they had. Now they lose a player with a lot of upside for nothing
  13. It depends how far you want to go back of course and it's impossible to know what trades were possible. I'd say Plouffe, Nolasco, Suzuki, and Perkins are not on the team. A bunch of other guys would of needed a vote since there was not a clear consensus. There's always people who wanted to rebuild vs those who wanted quicker results. The one certainty is that Brian Duensing would of been included in all trade proposals.
  14. You'd be surprised at how a lot fan's think. I live in an area with a lot of Cub's fans. A couple years back my co-workers were super upset that the Cub's were not singing big name free agents and losing a ton of games. I had to tell them their new front office cleared their bad contracts, went way over the cap in international signings, and got the best hitter in the draft in Kris Bryant. Of course they are all happy now, but most fans only look at wins and losses. They don't really understand the process of building a World Series contender.
  15. I think if you include the inability to develop pitching the Twins have the worst front office in the League. You can at least look at a few things Cincinnati and the LAA angels have done well. What are the Twin's success stories over the last 6 years. Plouffe and Dozier? Maybe you can credit them with Sano, but he has been mismanaged and the GM who signed him resigned shortly after that.
  16. I would of game Chargois one more chance. When you throw that hard it's going to be more difficult to throw strikes. It looks like nerves got to him as well, so a second chance could of helped. At the same time though, he was a danger to opposing batters. You can't have a guy up in the majors with that little control for too long.
  17. "So, the worst part about owning the Twins in 2016 is they can't compete with the big, bad Yankees?" To me this is changing the question. I'll agree Pohlads answer was not very straight forward and mentioning the fans was unnecessary. Either way though, I thought your way of interpreting his answer was unfair in my opinion.
  18. I see. You changed it from a general question about owning a sports team to a specific question about owning the Twin's in 2016. This changes the question a lot because the Twins are currently the worst team in MLB. In a general sense any team has a tough time competing against teams like the Yankee's or Red Sox who can spend more on free agents, international signings, coaches, and front office staff. The Twin's obviously have issues with that and allocating the resources they do have correctly.
  19. Like how you changed the question to try and make some point. Not to mention there is a question that is much closer to the one you just made up in the interview. Try to remember that he was speaking to a child as I already noted. In short the answer is no. The Yankee's do not have a direct effect on the Twin's current problems.
  20. I think he was trying to explain that it's hard to compete against a team that has twice as much revenue to a child. In a sport without a salary cap this is undoubtably true. You don't want to give a kid the direct answer though because it's one of the more unpleasant truths about the league. Basically, life's not fair kid. Get used to it.
  21. Yeah, the rotation is a dumpster fire. They should be trying to pick up pitching talent from now until the trade deadline. Can't expect too much with the players we have to trade though. Hopefully they can get a couple of lottery tickets. I expect business as usual though. We all knew who Nolasco was, but here he is just eating up innings for reasons I can not understand. Hughes and Santana are on the path to irrelevance. Pretty bleak outlook if a high number of the prospects don't work out.
  22. I think you took a few things out of context there. It's a good interview and his answers are fine. I actually appreciate how honest the answers are. You can tell the losing season is wearing on him. If you are going to take things out of context from the interview here are a few good ones: "One problem with the Twins: people don’t seem to leave. There isn’t a lot of turnover." and "I like hot Indian." Edit: I got a phone call while writing this reply. Looks like this was already covered.
  23. The person who made this mock draft https://baseballdraftreport.com/tag/griffin-jax/ must be loving what the twins are doing.
  24. Gotta like the Rortvedt pick. Looks like a good player. Too bad we just missed out on Nolan Jones as I would like him a little more. Who knows if he will sign though and it wouldn't of filled as big of a need as Rortvedt.
  25. The White Sox have had the perfect draft for the Twin's needs. Maybe they plan on trading them to us next year
