  1. I'm curious what the Twins do if Nick Gordon has a breakout year in AA. Obviously only been a handful of games, but it would be fun to find out
  2. No way. If Greene is considered for the #1 pick as a pitcher right now, then it's not ridiculous to think it's possible for him to be in the high minors or even the majors after three years. Yes that would be quite aggressive and everything would have to go right, but we have seen plenty of young pitchers debut around 21 recently. No way you waste three years if he genuinely has ace upside.
  3. I guess I'm a little confused with the obsession over veteran leadership when we have Santana, Hughes, Castro, Dozier, Mauer plus a few others. How much veteran leadership do you need?
  4. Trying not to overreact to the Jay news but dang this is frustrating
  5. That game was the first time I had seen Niko Goodrum. He looks very impressive from a physical standpoint
  6. I struggle giving Grossman a B because of how incredibly horrendous his defense was when I was able to watch. His offense is great, but his defense is like the kid you stick in the outfield and pray to God the ball doesn't find him. I couldn't believe I was watching a professional baseball player when I saw him out in the field. I am very excited for an outfield of Rosario, Buxton, Kepler next year however.
  7. Parker, I love your writing. If you wrote a book I'd buy it in a second.
  8. Probably way late here, but before everyone goes bashing on Joe Mauer once again, we need to recognize that he currently has an OPS+ of 114 and has looked pretty good defensively at 1B this year. Absolutely no reason he should be benched
  9. Yesterday was a lot of fun. It was the most fired up I have seen Seth on Twitter in quite some time
  10. The only way you don't like this trade is if you are extremely biased towards Alex Meyer. Nolasco has been nowhere near league average in his time with the Twins and in that same time Santiago has been just below league average or above league average. You are kidding yourself if you think Meyer would be in the Twins rotation to start next year or at any point next year. At this point Meyer is either a bust or needs a change of scenery. Him pitching anywhere near his potential with the Twins next season after basically two lost seasons is quite the long shot.
  11. I agree. It's just that Nuñez is an established major leaguer no matter what we may think of his abilities. I don't like the idea of trading him for one guy that may or may not pitch in the majors. But it's really just me nitpicking. I love that we got Mejia for Nuñez and it would be awesome if he was in our rotation in the near future.
  12. I like the return for Nuñez. However, I'm not a fan of 1 to 1 major leaguer and prospect trades. I wish we could have got another prospect in the lower levels of the minors. Overall I'm satisfied with the return and I'm glad to see Antony make a move.
  13. I'll have to disagree with that last part. I don't see value in replacing Gibson/Santana with Trevor May. You're breaking even in performance in that scenario at best. Trevor May isn't a Lucas Giolito, Tyler Glasnow, Julio Urias, or Jose Berrios even. Trevor May provides value to the rotation if he is replacing Nolasco, Milone, or possibly Hughes. And the logjam comes from having pitchers no one really wants. At some point the Twins are going to have to at least try Nolasco in the bullpen or suck it up and cut him.
  14. I find the shortstop scores to be interesting. Does anyone know why they are all so low? Are the AL shortstops just bad? Are the ratings low because shortstop is a difficult position to play?
  15. I was browsing the box scores and found a stat I thought was interesting: Zach Granite has struck out 28 times in 81 games this year. It looks like throughout his minor league career he has been tough to strikeout and keeps around a 1:1 K to BB ratio
  16. Jorge Polanco has an .829 OPS through 61 games in AAA
  17. Saw on Twitter that Benninghoff signed for $600k. I think I saw Miranda signed for $775k
  18. The pitch that got Murphy thrown out probably stunned the umpire. That was nasty
  19. I watched the highlights from the Berrios start in Houston. Holy cow he has some filthy stuff. When he gets the walks down he will start showing up on these updates.
  20. I think Mauer would be great at #2 as well. With Plouffe out I'd rather have Mauer at 3, but once he is back Mauer-Sano-Plouffe followed by Park then maybe Arcia sounds like a good lineup to me. Just have to figure out what to do with the leadoff spot and with Dozier.
