  1. I love that game. Not to get too off topic, but I had some funny unfortunate things happen to me my first year managing the Twins. Hicks and Nolasco had career ending labrum injuries. I acquired Brandon Guyer and he broke his finger in January during the offseason from being mugged while his house was robbed in the middle of the night. Talk about some interesting programming.
  2. Vielma deserves a bit more credit than this. Hitting .351 since the start of June deserves some more recognition than "nice hitting".
  3. Maybe he and Nick Gordon should be lifting partners in the offseason
  4. The trade for Jepsen makes even less sense to me if they were trying to stand pat at the deadline
  5. I don't think he has had much of a reason to trade prospects.
  6. I'm interested, obviously depending on the details. These series after the All Star break have been deflating, but the Twins still hold a wild card spot.

  8. Turner is hitting .417 over his last 10 games and .318/.387/.424/.811 through 19 games in July.
  9. I might prefer they stood pat at this point. Bring up some pitchers for bullpen help. Send Danny Santana down. I don't really want to trade prospects for a relief pitcher or backup catcher for this season unless they are extremely expendable. When I say stand pat, I don't mean keep the roster/lineup as it is. Someone else needs to be starting at SS. They can bring up Arcia or someone like Beresford if they think they need another infielder. Get pitching help from AAA. It is a bit deflating to me to see what it took to get Troy Tulowitzki and he's going to someone other than the Twins.
  10. If Vance Worley hadn't fallen off the face of the Earth with the Twins, then that trade would greatly favor the Twins.
  11. I've been noticing Navarreto has been a lot better since the start of June. He might want to take a few more walks though
  12. Not going to be an ace, but I'm surprised that Taylor Rogers has been mentioned a handful of times in this thread while Tyler Duffey hasn't been mentioned at all. He is having a great year so far. He would come up to the majors before Berrios.
  13. Wasn't me who said it, but I doubt Polanco will be better than Tulo over the next three years. Polanco is a good hitter, but not near as good as Tulowitzki while I also doubt he will ever put up a season even close to anything Tulowitzki has. Plus he still has to go through the stage of proving himself in the majors. I only have the minor league reports to go off of, but it doesn't sound like he is as good of a defender either. Tulowitzki is a major upgrade over anyone we have.
  14. I agree with that. I just think that Tulowitzki could be a huge upgrade for the Twins and be better for this team than trading for a catcher. Trading for catchers also makes me nervous because of how easily they can be injured and have their production fall off (which is ironic when talking about Tulowitzki)
  15. I have to disagree about shortstop. Polanco still has defensive concerns and there is a good chance he ends up at 2B. He isn't as good as a hitter as Tulowitzki either. Danny Santana clearly needs a lot of work. After that we have Engelb Vielma at high-A who is a great fielder but doesn't hit much. Then we have Nick Gordon at low-A who is easily still a few years away. Tulowitzki is an upgrade over any of those guys while making our lineup and defense better right now. The question with Tulowitzki is how much he will be on the field. Lucroy has at least as much risk as Tulowitzki does. He is a 29 year old catcher who is having his worst season since he was 24 and is only signed through next year.
  16. I'd be willing to involve Gibson in a trade for Tulowitzki. Definitely not Gibson and Berrios. Berrios is a guy I would like to keep around, but Gibson might be turning into something before our eyes. I would be worried about trading Gibson and Berrios for Tulowitzki because I question if the Twins could have a good starting rotation without those two. If Tulowitzki stays healthy, that is an enormous upgrade to our infield and lineup as a whole.
  17. I'd rather give the job to Escobar than trade for someone right now. You could send Santana down. I'm not sure who the Twins call up in his place. Maybe Beresford to be another utility guy.
  18. I don't know what the Twins are going to do at catcher. Stuart Turner hasn't hit enough to be much more than a backup. Mitch Garver's stats look unimpressive, but he got off to an awful start. He may be our best internal bet right now. That would still be a couple year wait.
  19. I don't see how it is cheapening him when it is a short term thing. I would much rather try Duffey, Rogers, Meyer, or other AAA guys in the pen before going out and trading prospects for a reliever. Trading anyone of value at AA or AAA this year for a reliever just doesn't make sense, and what kind of reliever are you going to get trading prospects below that? Obviously it depends on the trade, but I'm not in favor of trading a prospect for a relief pitcher this year.
  20. Nick Gordon has his avg up to .260 now. If it wasn't for a really bad May his hitting stats would look just fine.
  21. I'm not very interested in trading prospects for a 29 year old catcher who is having a bad year because of injury and expecting him to bounce back next year, especially Berrios. That just seems like disaster waiting to happen to me.
  22. It's hard to believe the Miracle are 11 games over .500 now. With that rotation they have to believe they have a good chance of winning every game.
  23. Walker, Sano, and Kepler have all been hot for the month of June. Kepler is hitting .373 after hitting over .340 in May. Sano is putting his second month in a row together of hitting over .300. Walker has 10 homeruns in June and his 22 on the season is only 5 short of his career high in 70 games.
  24. It's actual not ridiculous at all. This is coming from a guy who is about to graduate with a degree in genetics (me).
