With all the times the scouts have seen Greene, including just a few days ago, it's pretty clear they aren't sold on him whatsoever. It's not like they haven't taken a look at the kid.
I can't blame the decision makers for wanting to save some money when there clearly isn't one guy they love at #1. We have been hearing multiple names for months now. Hopefully it works out
Wright or Gore for me. I'd be pretty excited if Greene is picked as that would mean he was impressive when he was at Target Field recently and the front office believes in his secondary stuff. I do not want McKay unless he is signing for well under slot.
Interesting start of the year for Aaron Slegers. He has three really good starts giving up 1 earned run in 21.1 IP and three bad starts when he has given up 16 earned runs in 12.2 IP. In two of his good starts he gave up no hits through 6 innings.
Not a fan and don't completely understand the move, but I'll give the new front office the benefit of the doubt on having a plan until they give me reason not to.
Yeah I wasn't trying to imply that #3 is his ceiling. When I read "bigger version of Ted Lilly" I don't think of #1 pick in the draft. Just a little concerned with that, but like I said, I know nothing other than what I have read on this site.
I know nothing about McKay other than what Jeremy has said. I don't think it would be wise to draft a pitcher #1 overall who doesn't have legit ace potential. Is one spring enough to go from at least solid #3 to legit ace potential? If he is the #1 pick then I would rather it be as a hitter. It is definitely an interesting situation.
He's 22 all season and in AA. How is 22 not young? According to baseball reference, Kohl Stewart is 2.3 years younger than the average age of players in his league. He could repeat AA next season and still be a year younger than average. How is that not young?
I am completely 200% against trading prospects for a reliever unless you are a WS contender and trading for Chapman/Miller. It's just not worth it. Chih-Wei Hu made his MLB debut for the Rays back on April 24. He only pitched once and they just sent him back down, but it would be nice to have him in our system instead of getting nothing out of Kevin Jepsen.
