Joe Ryan Emerging as the Pitcher Minnesota Needed
mikelink45 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm delighted that he's doing so well, but very disappointed that Pablo is having such an inconsistent season. By the way, how is Sonny gray working out?- 25 replies

Its DaShawn Keirsey Jr. Time
mikelink45 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Please - I have been wearing out the comment sections pleading for this. Why hasn't it happened already? Defense in CF is a critical - up the middle has always been important. In a flyball era CF comes up significantly in importance. What is Margot contributing? Why not make a change?- 80 replies

No ranking - just excited to see three great prospects. But I feel bad that Lee and Jenkins got the Twins injury bug this year.

What Should Happen to Miranda When Lewis Comes Back?

You have not convinced me - bring up Keirsey. -
I loved watching Carew bat. He was an artist. And yes - BA counted as a great accomplishment.

This is a perfect opportunity to dump Margot - but first the FO has to get past its own egos. -
This has become a mantra that I still cannot buy into. Let a pitcher pitch.

The Twins Need to Sort Out Their 60/60/42 Problem
mikelink45 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Nice thought article. It is inconsistency that drives the fans crazy. The terrible start, the 12 game ride to the top and then the current crash. Ups and downs are not supposed to be such wide swings. How to even things out? Not sure what answers the coaches have or the manager. I do advocate taking the foot off the platoon pedal and playing the players doing the best regardless of who is pitching. Let this be a measure of consistency. I also see the need for the more traditional BP roles being established. Let players anticipate when and how they will be used. Finally when players are not producing over this length of time, move them down or out and get some fresh blood in the lineup.- 37 replies

The Twins Relief Pipeline Has Become Too Predictable
mikelink45 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
As I looked at the various RP I blanked on many of them and just chose a sampling. Robles and Colome were solid until they came to us. Then what? Did we miss something in evaluation or did we misuse them?- 47 replies

The Twins Relief Pipeline Has Become Too Predictable
mikelink45 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Too true and too sad. Varland is not looking like the next SP the way he is pitching so the BP is a better option and Festa will be next man up. Alcala and Varland at least provide younger arms with some future. All these scrapheap signings are getting boring and old! Our FO gurus have given us the following SP: Archer, Bundy, Lynn, Hill, Bailey, Happ, Shoemaker, and Adalberto Mejia. In the BP we have Dyson, Robles, Colome, Barraclough, Barnes and Jackson and all the others in the BP today and so many that the names are a blur. Yet we hired this FO for their pitching acumen.- 47 replies

I would hate to be a Twins announcer at this time. Imagine trying to fill the airspace with something that is printable or acceptable. I believe they are thinking about going home, watching the Timberwolves, and having a glass of something to soothe their spirits. This team got on a winning streak against bad teams after a terrible start, now it went in the tank against two good teams, with hope we could bounce back against a bad Nationals team - that didn't work. I remember all the articles on TD about how we have the best BP in the league or close to it with the moves this off season - anyone want to go back and read them? Lopez has great talent and great inconsistency. Ober and Ryan have been the anchors in the rotation and Paddock and SWR have done well, but have been deserted by an offensive offense. How stubborn can a team be to continue to have Vasquez, who certainly did not show his defensive prowess yesterday, Farmer, Margot, who cannot bat, field, or run, in the starting lineup. Come on - platoon baseball is not working. We need changes! Or are we just waiting for Lewis to come back and save us?
-
Is Alcala is someone's doghouse? Why do we keep bringing up the old arms and hope they will come through instead of using a relatively young arm with some promise? And I continue my rant about getting someone who can actually play CF to come up and spell Buxton instead of Margot and Castro and Martin - none of whom can protect this important part of the diamond. I keep saying Keirsey - is there another option?

Keirsey! A real CF instead of the butchers we have had. I suspect he can hit at least as well as Margot. Can the FO please admit it made a mistake and DFA Margot? It took to long for Jackson, but scrapping the bottom of the barrel is not good enough for a team that wants to win. Martin has been a disappointment. I have not been his biggest fan, but hoped he would do better than he has shown. Maybe next time. But once again I am frustrated by the willingness of this team to use players who are not suited for the positions we put them in.

Did the Twins Give Up on Brent Rooker Too Soon?
mikelink45 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Of course, it would be great to have ricker in our starting lineup right now, but at the time we let him go he was struggling in the very limited amount of exposure we gave him and Larnach and Kirilloff we're projected to be the stars. Neither have come through as projected and that's the difficulty when you're dealing with young players. Who knows when and how players will reach their potential or if they will. So I don't blame the twins. But I'm really delighted for rooker. We can write the same kind of article about Cano and a couple other players who are doing well on other teams. The real key is if we have enough players doing as well or better- 44 replies

I can't ever blame. Umpires, this is a losing streak. It goes back to the beginning of the season. We had that wonderful winning streak that made us feel like the twins had their act together. But then we go against two first place teams and seem to lose confidence in ourselves

I have not been impressed by Sands. Relief pictures. Can, look good for sure periods. If they are used in the right way. That means put in when the batters have less incentive and in a sense putting themselves out. But that's not high leverage and we need the ability to do what is necessary. I have no answers. I look at theilbar and Okert. And once again think era is the wrong measure for players like this. They have let so many inherited runners in that they have done more damage than their era or even their strikeout rate would indicate.
