  1. Nice comments. I am not an Ober fan, but would love to see him succeed. I am not sure what the formula is for a good starting pitcher now. I think about Kaat, Pascual, Perry, Viola, Santana and there is no single equation. What I want is to see intangibles like Morris brought, but I do not know how to measure them.
  2. I have not seen the trades or FA signings of this FO that give me confidence. Two years we win the division and then we drop to the scrap heap. That is not right. Do not trade our only two really reliable pitchers. I do not want to wait 3 years for the prospects to get here and find out they are not as good as the original. Keep developing out minor league arms. Figure out what happened when we had a good staff - just a year or two ago. I put Berrios and Rogers in my untouchable list and defy the other teams to give me an offer that would put them back on the marker. We all love Buxton, but we have paid him as a full time player and he has averaged 65 games over seven years. Sano, Donaldson, Simmons, Cave, Garver, Cruz, Maeda, Happ, Thielbar, Dobnak, Smeltzer, Thorpe, Robles and the movable parts. We also have some give-aways like Colome,
  3. Keep bringing up the arms. Let's see someone really rise and blow us away! I do not think Barnes, Ober or Jax is the answer, but let's hope they are able to bridge the gap to Duran, Balazovic and Winder.
  4. Lets hope Balazovic does great today and we start seeing him get closer to MN
  5. Young arms interest me the most. Who will they bring up? Will they bring Cave back? I hope not I like Gordon on the team. Do we see Astudillo again? Will Buxton play for us again this season? Can we extend Berrios? Is there a real SS available after Simmons leaves? Not a fill in, a real SS. Can Celestino develop quickly enough to keep CF?
  6. If Berrios does not get one of those top three, they do not get Berrios. The more I think about the Twins situation the more I think we are giving up on signing Berrios too soon. If we are going to trade another start (I think Pineda is gone) I would start thinking Maeda! His 2020 season still has legs even though I think it was an aberration.
  7. I do not want to subtract the two positives from a negative pitching staff with the hope that we can find someone who someday maybe can be almost as good as what we trade. No thanks. Develop what we have in the minors, sign quality instead of quantity in FA and keep moving forward. I am sorry Cruz is going, but we can possibly replace him. Rogers and Berrios we cannot.
  8. Good to see the exTwins, rehab or not, do what they are supposed to do. Not sure where they all fit on the current roster, but trade time needs to provide the right mix by the end of the season.
  9. I do not see that as a possibility. But beyond that I seldom find the trades I see to be enticing. Most of them are about giving up today for hope tomorrow.
  10. I am interested, not excited. Two years from now when we see development we can start to get excited.
  11. Nicely done. Even older than Richard, I too love baseball on the radio. I no longer have a transistor radio under my pillow and have to turn to streaming because of my travel, but there is no more soothing sound than a good baseball game and competent announcers.
  12. The future is not Refsnyder, Garlick or Cave - putting them back on the roster serves no purpose. They might all be great guys, but this season is not about winning an extra game, but rather for preparing for 2022 and beyond.
  13. Sorry, but we never let go of Ortiz, why would we let go of Baddoo? It is too good of a story.
  14. I know that is true, but in these brief descriptions the quotes I put in really stand out.
  15. What you did not cover is our Tommy John rate with hard throwers. Our prospect list is half IL list.
  16. I have to admit, I know nothing about these draft picks. No Clue. But I read the descriptions - "does not have the most range in the world", "While the ERA is not promising,", "as he put up a 5.23 ERA in 82 and 2/3 innings pitched and he struggled in the College World Series.", "won't flash any specific plus traits", "after a disappointing performance this spring for the Bruins he fell down draft boards", and "here were some concerns on how good his arm would be after coming back from Tommy John surgery," These are comments from the summaries. Wait and see, good luck guys. Maybe one of you will walk across a MLB diamond, but have fun while you try.
  17. Might be true, but it is still my wish. What does another start by Happ mean for the future? Who cares about Coloumbe, Law, Robles after this season? I am not interested in a winning second half, I want a winning season. Push the envelop.
  18. The Twins added one of the TD top 50, what does that mean? Wait and see.
  19. I just went back to TD rankings before the draft you had him number 20. Pretty good!
  20. What I want and it will not happen is for Winder, Barnes, even Balazovic to get in the game. It is time to look for the future and a BP games accomplishes nothing.
  21. You are right, I went on the team statistics and realized all the new names are retreads and bargain basement sales items.
  22. So far this year the rookie arms have disappointed me. Ober might be the best of them, but you described him well and I am not impressed at this point. I do wish we had some of the rookie RP on board to see what they have. I am thinking that the Twins might play 500 the second half which has two possible outcomes - we get fooled thinking everything will be okay or we will start selling and put ourselves in a position to try and race KC and Detroit back to significance.
  23. Glad we have Seth to sort these out. I have no clue where any of these players should rank, but I do wonder how many will automatically make our top prospect list this off season.
  24. How often do we say - except for one inning ___ pitched a good game. This game was outstanding from a fans view, but overall most games hinge on that one big inning.
