  1. I understand your point, but for the year he has a -0.7 WAR, he has a 6.29 era and a 1.36 whip. The opponents have an 848 OPS against him - more than 100 points above league average. He had a nice run, but overall I am not convinced. If he continues that five game stretch again you have a point.
  2. Don't we have some other minor league pitchers we can give a trial? Jax is a nice story, but not a nice starter. Time to try something else. Isn't the rest of this lost season a time to get some trials done? Balazovic and any other potential started should be called up. Gant and Jax are not going to give us what we need next year.
  3. This was an excellent report. The ending sets of stats giving us a perspective on how the players rank with other minor leaguers was great and so were the year to date statistics on our prospects. Some of those prospects may need to be adjusted when you do the end of the year prospect rankings.
  4. Strotman did not look good - add the hits and the walks and his WHIP was terrible. He is not looking like a quick fix for MLB, so let's hope Ryan continues to deliver.
  5. I know it is illogical in this day of outsized contracts, but to me a player like Buxton should look at the fact that the Twins have paid him for full years and he has been a part time employee. The offers for him have been generous and if he does not sign, trade him. Time to start moving on. From the great prospect and hope for the future only Berrios and Polanco have really delivered on the promise. Buxton has teased, Kepler and Sano have not grown or developed as hoped. Let's hope this next set of prospects can continue to develop and deliver.
  6. Since others are defending Kepler, I will defend you. Kepler is not a leadoff hitter. He is not a good hitter. I put a like to the article because it is well done, not because I like what it says. We are just all desperate for something positive and Gant, Garza, Garcia are not the answers anymore than Vincent and Burrows. We need to see some young live arms with potential.
  7. The obvious response for me is that he should already be here. It is not about who gets moved where it is about the FO rewarding a player for outstanding performance. Service time is a joke and we all know it. We either extend or trade. Come On Falvey give us something more to cheer about. And maybe another young arm not named Gant, Garcia, Garza - forget the wonderful additions you keep making from the waver wires and bring up real prospects.
  8. Is there any reason, any good reason, why Ryan's next start is not for the twins?
  9. Thanks Henri. I don't have to check the score and see another ex Twin beat up on us.
  10. I love his accomplishments and his potential for the future. He is the kind of batter that us old timers can relate to
  11. what have we learned From this fun ball game? Polanco is our MVP. Thorpe is not going to be able to be a SP for a good team. Colome really is not the closer we need. The Twins should have a much better record and should be in contention.
  12. This is a really good summary of a crazy week. It shows the twins potential, but at the same time it reflects some of the same things we've seen in the past. Are bullpen is consistently pieced together with waiver wire pickups instead of working from within our system the way our starting pitchers have been finally promoted. We need a hitting coach who can work with these young players to get better production and help them make their adjustments.
  13. I cannot understand what Miranda has to do to see the majors.
  14. I am speechless. Let's keep celebrating 1991 the rest of the season.
  15. After tonight's game I have to reassess this statement.
  16. I am not confident with Thorpe and keep hoping another young pitcher would pass him by.
  17. I worry about Duran. Not getting an operation this year could just delay the inevitable. I hope they are correct in letting him just rest, but we have been down that road before. I am pleased to have three pitchers in the top five. I have no idea if Lewis should still be number one. After the last two years he has become this mystical figure that we all look up to, but having not seen him don't really have anything to justify putting him on the pedestal. For your wrap up on the series put out two lists - pitchers - position players.
  18. Well what can be said - Tampa Bay looks really good. When I look at the Tampa Bay lineup it does not look as good as ours, but when the game starts they know what to do, defense, pitching and timely hitting. The Twins lineup looks good, but the defense which the FO was fixing this year does not and Vincent and Gant are not the answers. Is Garcia real? I still want to see the younger BP arms called up.
  19. Nice essay - only 8 more positions to fill!
  20. At his age I do not want them playing the control game with him. Bring him in and let him pitch.
  21. I am really curious about the potential for 2022 on the Saints team. Miranda and Duran and Canterino seem like they should make the next move. Nick Gordon will continue to bounce back and forth. The BP looks good, but the Twins went with a 35 year old instead of them. Why? Is Kerrigan ready? It seems like I read about him a lot, but do not see him listed as a prospect. Celestino seems to be getting things together and should have more CF time. Rortvedt is an injury away and could be a good trade piece. Broxton is a waste of time even though a lot of readers wanted him to come up at times in the season. Riddle is not the solution for SS and represents the weakness we have at that position. Any other Saint reflections or corrections?
  22. Athletes are too prevalent in press and public - not only should every person be vaccinated, but athletes should help set the standard. Good thoughtful article.
  23. I can see no reason for Miranda not to get some big league time. I think that Donaldson's recent injury was a missed opportunity. Cavaco is too high. Canterino should be given some Twins starts. Ryan surprises me. I want him to come to MN, but what surprised me most is his age. It is time for him to step up.
