Best part of this read: watching the youngster jump for joy after catching Royce's homer. A memory he'll never forget! I remember getting Frank Viola's autograph in the depths of the Metrodome after a mid-week matinee back in the 80s and it's stuck with me for life. Go Twins, we'll be cheering for you no matter who you run out there.

Great to see both of the guys who came to the Twins in the Berrios trade making hay. SWR and Austin Martin both have a huge opportunity to stick in Minneapolis full time next year. Nice to see them both seizing their chance.

Pretty sad state of affairs. Rocco has completely lost this team and should be fired at season's end. His style of managing is not a good match for a young, bad, rebuilding franchise. Thanks for your service Rocco and good luck wherever you land.

Byron Buxton, in Uncharted Territory
BrokenCompass replied to Matthew Trueblood's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Yeah, he may get penalized. On the flip side, he's BYRON BUXTON and I think the season that he's put together on a very bad Minnesota team will actually charm the socks off of many of the voters. To see him realize this type of season after what he's been through in his career may give him an extra boost in the voting. -

Thanks for sharing. I absolutely think he'll get a Top 10 nod for MVP. I think it's a lock, frankly. -
Twins (Ryan) Vs Padres (Morgan): 8/31/25, 12:05 pm
BrokenCompass replied to C-Gangster's topic in Archived Game Threads
If you don't like my posts, you can ignore 'em, bub. Great job by Ryan and Buxton, Bux is going to be the all-time leader in Target Field homers by mid week next week. Tonkin stinks and shouldn't ever put on an MLB uniform again, Twins should outright Outman and I hope they don't even bother to entertain the thought of keeping Clemens around. Wallner's a lost cause. Twins are bad. -

I don't get it. Was I supposed to say something nice about the guy? -

Tonkin is such trash. -
Nice win. Good to see Lewis really get a hold of one. This last month could do wonders for his confidence going into the offseason if he can put some swings together.

Blue Jays 9, Twins 8: Welcome to Thunderdome
BrokenCompass replied to Eric Blonigen's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
So are the Twins just not playing this Alan Roden character anymore? Aren't we supposed to be kicking the tires on these acquisitions we got when the team blew up? What a joke of a bullpen. This team is depressingly awful. Watching washed up has-beens blowing games isn't what we need to be seeing right now. Buxton is awesome though. And for all the crap that Lee has received, he could sniff 20 HRs if he keeps it up. -
Culpepper and Jenkins should be in the Opening Day lineup in 2026, batting 3rd and 4th, respectively. I'm serious. If the Twins are going to lose anyway, go ahead and lose with young kids in the lineup. Jettison the dead weight and bring in new blood. The Twins waited until Larnach was 25 to kick the tires on him and it was too late. Same with Wallner. Now they're stuck with these two 30 year-old burned out prospects who have set the system back YEARS. Rush 'em to the Big Leagues. If they stink, ditch 'em and keep losing and get to fire off a few more #1 draft picks. Twins will eventually get a Paul Skenes or something and fortunes will change.

I agree it would be nice to salvage something from him - but it seems like "put him in the bullpen" is a catch-all solution for players that just aren't performing. The shine is coming off Connor Prielipp? Put him in the bullpen. Simeon Woods-Richardson can't pitch more than 4.2 innings? Put him in the bullpen. Taj Bradley gets rocked by the worst team in baseball? Put him in the bullpen. Maybe these guys just aren't that good? Twins seem to have an awful lot of starting pitching prospects that we're now just hoping for a Hail Mary that they might be good for 2-3 outs per game.

Twins got Joe Ryan for Nelson Cruz. They can identify talent - it just seems that during this teardown they really missed. Unfortunate considering that they dismantled the entire team for what appears to be a bag of magic beans.

Looks like this is a story about an injury prone "prospect" who is getting long in the tooth. Don't get me wrong I wish this guy nothing but the best. But looking at the body of work, does anyone really expect this guy to contribute in a significant way at the MLB level? I find there are several other far more likely scenarios here. I guess when you get swept at home by Oakland you have to give readers a reason to feel hopeful. But this kid ain't it. Tell me more about the real prospects.

Twins (Bullpen) Vs Yankees (Rodon): 8/12/25 6:05 pm CDT
BrokenCompass replied to C-Gangster's topic in Archived Game Threads
Say what you will about Adams, he embodies everything there is about being a true Minnesota Twin. Folding under the lights of Yankee Stadium like a cheap suit. The shine's come off Keaschall, too! These guys bleed Kasota Gold! -
This is like saying Austin Martin is the best hitter on the Twins because he's batting .400. The guy has played in like 4 games, it's irrelevant. Wake me up when Stewart does something. Ten bucks says he's out of the league by 2027. No big loss whatsoever for this team.

The Stewart trade was bad - but how much has he helped the Twins in his career here? Not much. He's spent more time on the IL than logging IPs. The reason the trade was bad isn't because of Stewart's value, it's the fact the Twins got Outman in the deal. A 28 year-old AAA player who is out of options? As others have said this guy's a DFA candidate...it's almost like the Twins did the Dodgers a favor on this one. Would have preferred a 20 year-old lottery ticket, frankly. Roden hit a dinger yesterday. Maybe give the kid a chance before we grade the Varland deal. Rojas is a legit prospect too.

At least the Twins have figured out that Cody Funderburk isn't very good and doesn't deserve a 40-man spot in the future. Absolute garbage. -
Minnesota Twins 2025 Trade Deadline Primer
BrokenCompass replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Sell sell sell. This team needs a complete overhaul. Our prospects that have reached the MLB level have been underwhelming: Martin never worked out. Larnach and Waller are all clearly not everyday players and need to be replaced. Due to the horrific failings on offense, and with no expectations that any current players are going to get much better, the Twins will indeed have to part with Duran, Jax, and Ryan in order to bring anything of value back to this team. This means guys like Zebby and Festa are on the clock and rotation spots are theirs for the taking. Royce Lewis is a great unknown. The Twins will have Pablo Lopez and Byron Buxton as veteran leaders to lay the foundation for the new look team. It would be great if the Twins could jettison Correa but I don't think that's happening. Twins need to grab at least 4 young MLB ready players for Jax, Duran and Ryan who can make their debuts this year or early next year. Throw in a bunch of lottery tickets for Castro and anything we can get for Paddack, Bader, etc.- 62 replies
